AMD's Radeon RX 6800 reportedly overclocks to 2.5+ GHz average clock speeds

RDNA2 is kinda like Nvidia's Maxwell. Same process technology, excellent raster performance-per-dollar and per-watt, and high clock speed headroom.

I wonder how well the performance scales with those clock speeds. If it scales well, 2.5Ghz could mean the 6800 non-XT model will be as fast as the 3080.

I'm expecting the 6800XT to be real close to the 3090 at them clocks we'll see.

Hopefully by the time I'm ready i'll be able to snag one unless 2021 is a write off as well then could be looking at a Navi 3X and Nvidia if there not worried now will be then.

Yeah see now I said the 6800 may be the card to have. I think like many I assumed it would be clocking balls, but if AMD could get it close without that there may be tons of room left in the tank.

AMD's slides showed the 6900XT with Rage and SAM to be slightly behind the 3090. If 80 CUs has similar OC headroom, a fiver says Sapphire will bring back the Toxic and crush the 3090.

I wish Sapphire would bring the Vapor X back

That could have been bone stock, though.

Overclocking is something that was all but forgotten with Ampere. It has been with AMD GPUs for bloody years now.

If they actually have overclocking left in the tank they could crush Ampere. Mostly because Ampere is a compute GPU and RDNA2 is a pure gaming arch now.

Something AMD should have done years ago.
