AMD's investing heavily into its R&D - Spending is up over 18%

just shows how extra money from cpu is enabling better funding, lets hope they can hammer nvidia soon

I think that would cost more than they have tbh.

IDK how much they paid Keller, but they had to be able to afford it. He literally gave them a gift tbh.

I bet Intel had to pay him a lot more :D

I swear Kellar just hops company to company dropping golden eggs with each one :D

Awesome, hopefully they'll manage a similar comeback in GPUs as they did in CPUs. Or at least keep competition on its toes.

lets not forget that other people worked on it too. Just as Lisa Su doesn't operate the company all by herself.

Yeah sure, but only one guy can pencil out the design and create it.

Why do you think Intel are so screwed?

Because they hire too many guys, who let ego get in the way, and everything suffers.

This comes to mind.

Honestly if you are really interested in what is going on at Intel watch that.

That's not just hear say or rumours, but genuine information from ex employees.

Apparently Raja struts around like some sort of god, and they all hate each other. *that* is why they have struggled for so long with their die shrinks and have all of the issues they have. They don't work together at all.

I wouldn't believe it tbh. I'd say "No way, they can't be like that". But seriously, throughout my life I have known and worked along side some true geniuses. Not just ordinary human beings. Coders, programmers. People able to write an entire emulator alone. From nothing but blue prints and "buzzing boards" to find out how the traces were connected and documents on the processors they emulate.

And I am telling you, they are the strangest people I have ever met. I was a low level coder, and designer, and I would bring things to fruition. However, the geniuses I worked alongside were like factions. It wasn't like Mame where people would actively help each other and work together, it was just absolute petulance. Like, for eight years I worked my ass off trying to bring two head coders together. It lasted about two weeks.

It was so bad that instead of collaborating instead you would get four coders all working on the same emulator in some twisted sort of "race". Whoever released theirs first basically wiped out two to three years of work from the other coders.

And toys out of the pram? holy crap.

I thought it was just the emulation I was involved in, but many "scenes" have all disappeared up their own butt holes for exactly the same reason.

And that is exactly what is going on at Intel. As long as they are making money? they really couldn't give a crap. The problem will be when they can't continue any more, and implode. Whether that will happen? I really don't know, but all signs are not pointing to good. Now Raja is an incredibly smart and shrewd man. However, from what I have heard he walks around like a hen all day and wants his way all of the time. And that is why Intel's GPU previewed last year was so terrible. It's not just their CPU engineers the whole company is like it.

I don't know what it is like to work in Nvidia, but from the sound of it it's much more cohesive, especially given the products they come out with. But the whole vibe of disdain is starting to leak out of Intel like a cream in a cracked plastic pot.

Good video watched a few on these with the info about Intel it's not looking good unless they really change the way in which they work, but for me I won't buy Intel again.
