AMD have an ambitious future planned for themselves, promising both profitability for the company, a new CPU architecture which promised 40% Gains in IPC over Carrizo and GPUs which are 2x as power efficient in 2016.

As much as I would absolutely love to see AMD pull ahead of Intel as it's great for competition, They said the same thing before Bulldozer and then Piledriver released.

It is sounding promising. i really do hope that they pull this off, as i would like to have a AMD core at the heart of a future rig.

Its really important not just for AMD as a company but for the entire industry that AMD gets this right, we need a strong AMD with competitive products to drive innovation and keep the market healthy.

I really really hope this works out.

man this would be so fantastic. And it all sounds so promising too. I really hope finfet works out fro them as well

Well there you go, OFFICIAL confirmation that a new FX CPU is indeed coming, and if the claims about the 40% IPC improvement are true then it's going to be competitive with Intel.

I was going to jump to skylake for my next upgrade, but now I'm think I'll wait until I know more about this.

weeeeellll. If the leaks are true about skylake, you wouldn't have much to look forward to if you waited for it.

Let's go AMD show us what ya got.

On a sidenote. AMD confirmed the R9 360, 370, and 380 cards are all respin products. :(

Well considering that the r9 290/x still kicks sone serious amounts of arse i am not surprised

Well an i7-6700k would be a nice upgrade for me going from my aging FX-8350. But with DirectX 12 on the way, waiting that little bit longer won't matter much.

With regards to the 300 series GPUs, I think that's expected to be honest. I'd never have expected AMD to roll out a whole new line of GPUs when there's a new process in the imminent future - 14nm.

I agree, but from an enthusiast point of view, I would be slightly deterred from upgrading a GPU when I have waited for the 300 series having skipped the 200series with the idea of an amazing GPU upgrade in mind. And when I find out the 300s are respins, id be disappointed. Possibly hamper sales.

Obviously others don't have the same mentality, but for the sake of all of us, AMD need to start competing even harder now or their future is grim. I'd love to see the day Nvidia are on the back foot releasing cards to stay in competition with AMD.

Wouldn't we all? To be fair though, they did slap Nvidia in the face with the 290X nearly two years ago. It beat the GTX 780 & Titan while costing less, although Nvidia were able to answer with the 780 Ti.

To start competing harder they need new products, and new complex products like CPUs/APUs and GPUs take time to design and release. I myself just hope AMD can stay solvent long enough for their new products to arrive in 2016.

That's what I mean though. Every step of the way, Nvidia has a card waiting to leap frog AMD. I hope it turns 180 here and forces Nvidia to head back to the drawing board and try to keep up for a change, with AMD holding back :)

A thing I just noticed looking through the slides.

"Zen" puts competition back into High-Performance x86 CPU market.

That's quite a bold statement on behalf of AMD. Whilst I have my doubts, it's basically them saying that their new CPUs will compete with Intel's offerings.

It definitely gives us something to look forward to, hopefully more details will trickle out as time goes by. ^_^

The last Intel chip I had was a pentium III 10 years ago AMD come on pull that rabbit out of your hat

This sounds very good. Nvidia confirmed leaving the SoC market by selling their Bristol based Icera Modem business. Go go AMD :)

It's bold, but then again, it has to be.

Pretty sure they tweaked them though.
