AMD's FidelityFX Super Resolution 3 technology is launching today in two games

Sad I don't have access to either of these games to see if it will work on the Vega integrated GPU on my laptop. I'm not about to buy bad games just to test that. But I'm sure there will be tests on youtube.

From my understanding, Immortals of Aveum should have had this from Day0. Its poor reception had led to multiple lay offs.

Maybe marketting is to blame, but I liked the concept of an FPS tailored towards magic. Lets hope that such a feature injected into these games will claw back some negative feedback. Forspoken was also panned.

FSR3 will work on that GPU however the frame gen part of FSR3 I expect your have very mixed results as it needs async compute which is on newer cards, hence why some games see higher results than others as some games use async compute in the game others that don't would see higher frames.

My curiosity came from the fact that earlier AMD documentation was very ambiguous when it comes to support for FrameGen on older architectures, and now that it's here, it's basically clear that it will NOT work on older than AMD's RX 5000 series or any non RTX NVIDIA cards.

At the very least it doesn't work now, but I wouldn't count on AMD launching any update to add support for older architectures and even if they do, it will probably be a couple years down the line from now.

It will probably just never work wich is a good marketing strategy for AMD that held onto the Vega Architecture for so long on the mobile APUs...

Now I'm way more inclined to buy a new laptop in the near future with a Ryzen 7000 APU and RDNA GPU for the actual FSR3 support, because if there isn't frame gen then it's honestly just FSR2.

HypR RX in Q1 is the main thing I want, but I'm on 6800XT so I'm hoping that FSR3 with frame gen when games are updated will mostly cover the games I'm looking at one in particular.

If I don't at least get basic frame gen in FSR3 i'll be disappointed and upgrading, however hypR RX I'll be wanting in time so it's likely I will.

Like you say they are kinda lacking solid info on the whole way and what cards without even saying if in future.

Still FSR3 with frame gen should work for me, but fluid motion frames and HypR RX are different things to that, nice to have different options just would like to know exactly where i stand.

On older cards frame gen will not work fully or at all within FSR3 they were at least clear about that, saying that FSR3 in it's basic form does have some tweaks so while not a huge difference in terms of fps it's better and in terms of detail some improvement.

so basically on older cards frame gen if it works will be vastly lacking compared to 6k onwards or RTX cards they stated for 1440p with frame gen a 6800XT + is the recommended, how much mileage lower or older cards get i've no idea.

From what I read you can not use frame gen on GPUs prior to Navi. That includes Polaris and Vega. The option is not in the drivers.
