Following the successful launch of the 3rd Generation Ryzen CPUs we wanted to see how the midrange Ryzen 5 3600X performed across the whole range of Zen motherboards.
Great, thanks for this, must have been a lot of work, been looking around at super cheap 2nd hand AM4 boards recently now my AM3+ gaming system has finally given in. Might even go B350 tbh just need a quick replacement that does the job for that rig since nothing too important on there
Having a Crosshair Hero VI it certainly a nice thing to know one could just drop a 3700x in there... but maybe the greed is real and I'll try the 3900x XDD However, probably more of a Winter Project ^^
I sadly don't have time now to read all of this of comment about it, but I did notice the x265 and HEVC benchmarks, and I'm not sure what the deal is there. x265 is a HEVC encoder.
I'm still not decided on what direction I want to go in, if any. It's an extreme amount of faff for me so I think I will leave it for now. I'll wait at least until launch prices drop. Should only be a couple of months so I guess my upgrade could be done this fall. At least then I would be able to have it powered on for more than one minute before feeling cooked.
Is the Sony Vegas chart right? You say the X570 result is poor compared to X470 but at stock, you have the X470 over a second slower. Got the results mixed up?
It could be me being dumb though, too many numbers to read at this time in the morning.
Great article. I'm interested in finally upgrading my good old i5 2500k @4.7GHz to the 3600 and was looking for a cheap way to do it. The MSI B450 Tomahawk Max (the max version has a bios rom chip with 32mb since the normal version has many issues because it only has the 16mb BIOS chip) seems like a good fit for it but it wasn't released yet.
Are you planing in testing the B450 versions?
Cheers
I just dropped a 3600 into my Asrock AB350 Fatal1ty Gaming K4. Works fine aside from I had to drop my ram down a notch from 3200mhz to maintain stability. Due to the cheaper VRM I'm guessing.
