Well if these latest rumors turn out to be true then we won't get an RX 490, which as far as I know was never confirmed to exist in the first place and the rumored existence of the card was based off how things were done in the 200 and 300 series cards.
I'll be honest, my theory is that Bethesda put that on their site on purpose, as it gave the High Res Texture pack a lot more press than it would have otherwise.
It is likely that they are just as in the dark as any of us are, unless the developer is particularly close to AMD. Bethesda are Nvidia leaning, so it is unlikely that AMD told them much or anything in advance.
Well kinda figured this would happen. I mean, a whole new range of cards and you have to start at 490? Makes no sense. I don't see how two different Vega chips could possibly fit into that
It is looking like the 490 was a dual chip RX 480. AMD probably realised quite quickly that they would basically be releasing a card that did not work, hence changing their minds.
