AMD Release Athlon™ 64 X2 5000+ Black Edition

Yeah agreed. We don't want last gen...we want to see Phenom. On the plus side, it's essentially an FX60 on 65nm. :)

I have to say this pretty uninspiring, an unlocked K8(? I don't know my AMD's lol)

They need to pull their fingers out and release the new technology, not rehash the old gen :nono:

It's an unlocked K9 isn't it? K8 was 9339?

Anyway I like the unlocked lower spec CPU for overclocking, but come on AMD - you're just clutching at straws

Actualy this is quite awesome. So far only the FX proccies where unlocked and this is an AM2 proccy thats unlocked. I wouldnt actualy mind getting my hands on one.

Would it have to be unlocked at the die level?

AMD don't really have a lot of old stock, unlike Intel

I dunno, I mean they come out so many weeks ago with 6000+ (or 6400+, can`t remember the number) at a cheapish level.

I bet there`s parts of the cpu that can be "firmed" under lab conditions.

lol imagine that, firmware upgrade for u`r cpu.
