$499 max or they may as well exit the GPU business. No ones buying what is basically a 7900XT with 4GB less memory 2+ years after it was released for $649.

I don't see a reason for less performance unless they took cores out to make room for the added AI transistors. Even if they did you'd think it would have improved IPC per core.

With this rumor I'd suggest an absolute max price of $600. Even then closer to $550.

Yeah, this doesn't make any sense. If it performs the same as a 7900 XT in the most important workloads and has less VRAM, it should cost less, no? What have they been doing in these two years? If they can't make a GPU that performs better at the same price or costs less at the same performance, what's the point? Better RT? Lower TDP? That's not remotely enough. Maybe AMD doesn't care because they know they'll sell a GPU, whether it's an older one or a newer one. They won't take market share though, which was their goal.

Or we are all wrong here, seeing as none of us are even remotely in a position within the industry to know, essentially anything, nor is this is even a confirmed price. It's a rumor, so why is everyone behaving like it's confirmed and/or like they are an expert as to what will happen?...

Because it's a forum of mates that enjoy talking about anything PC-related. I understand why you're saying this, but this is what we do. We enjoy it. I don't see anything wrong with it whatsoever.

Never said it was anything wrong with it either... were simply questioning as to why people seem so certain regarding the price being what it is and especially that it will basically be AMD GPU division downfall. When we know nothing.

Discussing is one thing, this thread and it's posts seems pretty certain of their respective statements. That's what I'm highlighting and I don't see anything wrong with it either whatsoever.

Because it's AMD, Their GPU division seem intent on imploding.

No, sorry, you're right. I think I looked between the lines too much. It 'read' like you were complaining about the whole concept of discussing rumours, which I and a bunch of others think is fun. But what you said was actually different to that. (y)

If it's above 600 it's a flop and if it doesn't drop to 500 after a month or so it's a hard pass, seems once again AMD are doing as they have done, if these prices are true.

Thou i can understand it cause the 7900xtx is something they want to sell out at a viable price which if i decided to get a card right now it would be the 7900xtx not even the 9070 do not like the name.

Still looking more and more likely that until the do go to full chiplet and get it right with udna then this is a nothing burger 🍔

Still i might well be tempted by a 7900xtx now but tbh i simply don't need it 🤷
