Rumour has it that the first of the Rx 300 series GPUs will be released on June 18th, while the more high-end Fiji GPUs featuring stacked High Bandwidth Memory will hit the (digital) shelves on the 24th of June.

Would be amazing if we see Titan X beating performance from the 390X or whatever their top tier single GPU card will be called.

Nvidia sorely need a good ass whooping so we see bigger performance increases.

Hunting TITANS
Well if AMD manages better than titanx performance and a lower price they've won the graphics card war... for now

I hope AMD are a bit more clued up than the fan who did the pic above. He does realise that the Titan is a 2 year old card lol.

The Titans have now got the "X" factor.:D

Honestly I would not have been surprised if it had been an official AMD poster. They always take stabs at Nvidia like that and imo it just seems childish.

On a serious note I will be getting the 390X when it launches.

Is there anyone else who will be getting the 390X when it is available ?

Maybe me, depending on how it performs, the price etc... I do realllly like the look of the Titan X and it goes really well with my system :/

It should be about time to retire my 780's when the aftermarket 390X's roll in. I don't doubt the performance but they better have a full length PCB and some manly power delivery just because e-peen.

Do kind of fancy 8GB 290X's though, sooo cheap

I had dibs as i reported on this first! Take that Ninja! Looks like i snuck up on you;)

I'm really tempted to upgrade to the new cards. I just kinda want to wait till next years release since it'll pretty much be on something lower than 20nm.

I wish they would do more with the rest of the 3XX family. If it's AMD intention to simply rebrand the older cards each time it leave a nasty taste.

I bought my 7970's new when the custom PCB/cooler first came out three years back. Since then they have had one name change to 280X, looks like they are going to be renamed the 370X. How long will this go on for? Will we finally see the 7970 called the 640 in a three years? There has to be a limit, mid range cards are not normally 300mm require a pair of 6 pin power connectors and a 250W TDP!

There are a few up sides to this system, crossfire compatibility, three year old flagship cards at bargain prices. I just think that this is unsustainable in the long run. I just think that this renaming cards is disingenuous.

The best way I can think of would be if they had names. Normal marketing BS, Let's say the "Viper" sounds like a name a marketer would come out with. They could sell Vipers for 5 or 6 years. Each year a new named card would be released, the Maverick, the Cougar. Whatever the name isn't important, that same card would be sold for 5-6 years, each year something new and shiny comes out with an imposing name. Each year as the named cards became older they would drop in price. Within 5 years you have a full range of gaming cards with wild names. Those names might be a little dumb but there would be recognition. Less expensive cards would still have the brand awareness they achieved when they were the latest shiny new thing. After the 5 years or so they would slip quietly away. Anyway it's a more elegant solution than just sticking a new label on the box and pretending it's something new.

If you read up on anything, these "rebrands" will be tweaked versions of the older cards to enable the new features AMD has along with improving the color compression/decompression algorithms, which that alone can improve performance. They will most likely be getting a jump to a newer GCN architecture. It's a rumor but more than likely going to happen simply due to the fact they need all cards to support Freesync, which would require this, and they have had a long enough time to do so. It's also cheaper than building a new architecture.

would like to point out that changing from a HD to a R9 card for most people also meant a change in GPU architecture forinstance my hd 7870 is a pictarin, but if i had changed to pretty much the exact same card as an r9 it would have been tahiti (a few rare 7870s were Tahiti though) But swapping from my 7870 to the r9 equivalent would have given me a performance boost, But as you can guess it was not enough for me to go ahead and do it for the cost.

Still biding my time before i decide what GPU to by next. Starting to really have to mess with gfx settings for good solid fps at 1080p for the latest games i play.
I will probably end up with a high end older gen card though. but lets see what happens to prices.
And with 970's under court scrutiny for not being fit for purpose i could end up with one of those depending how it affects the sales and how many returns they get @ full retail price (if the case goes in that direction).
