AMD R9 Fury Price Decease Immanent?

AMD is rumored to be decreasing the price of their R9 Fury GPUs soon after the surprise price reductions of their R9 Nano GPU.

I wonder how much of an effect the price decreases will have with the Polaris GPU release being so close (unless the price cuts are fairly deep). Seems like this tactic might not work as well at the high end with the large gains in performance and efficiency expected from the next generation GPU's.

This is a normal tactic when they want to clear the pipeline to make room for new stock. These prices are about 6 months too late if the sole reason is to pick up market share.

Definitely not because they introduced GCN 1.2 with new color compression techniques along with new memory controllers for HBM or even adding another 1500 or so cores to the die.

I didn't say it wasn't a step up or an improvement. I said it was a bridge between two very different places. If 'big' Polaris is out by August, that means the Fiji core had only been out a year. In that time, it hasn't left a big impression on people's minds and hasn't done nearly as well as we imagine Polaris is going to do, or the 200 series for that matter. To me, the Fury line-up, as well as the 200 series rebadged as the 300 series, was a stepping stone, or 'bridge', between two very different performing products.
