Pretty sure we all knew this would happen at some point. I been waiting to here this for a while now. Though they did their main objective and that was push the industry forward for advanced APIs.

Unfortunately their main objective was not met, making money and market share.

Mantle has been a drain on AMDs resources whether people thinks it is good or bad.

AMD need to make money and lots of it but sadly Mantle has not done this for them.

A strong AMD would be good for all PC gamers regardless of whether they favour NVidia or AMD.

Don't think it would really effect them that much. I'm sure the original plan was to push MS to make a better API to help aid there performance. I think the only way they would have kept it was if many games were using it and launching. Few games did so really they just waited. That's why its kind of ironic as soon as Mantle "dies" Vulkan all of a sudden gets a headliner. Seemed planned to me

proves nothing..
Maybe it does, maybe it doesn't. None of us are truly going to know what went on behind closed doors at the respective companies, and there are plenty of NDAs that will keep it that way too.

I'm not too fussed, as long as DX12 lives up to some of the expectations, I'm happy.

Wasn't it always the plan for AMD to drop Mantle and leave it out there for developers once they had released it into the wild? Pretty sure I read something like that a good while ago.

Either way, AMD pushed things forward and we now have DX12 and other APIs coming through.

I wasn't trying to be rude or anything earlier but i was just saying that article title had little to do with the content(2 paragraphs).. it really just didn't say anything except for the power differences between Xbone and Ps4. Failed to make a point tbh. But we will never know for sure but it seems to have been the plan all along. That's the best we can conclude to

That's what i have been sayin. But ya as long as DX12 and Vulkan can push the industry forward with constant improvements we should be fine.
