AMD has two Polaris GPUs coming this year and promises at least a 20% improvement in performance at the same price for next year.

Super excited for all the new next gen GPUs. I think AMD will make the most progress in notebook class GPUs which should really help them gain some revenue since nearly everything in that market is Nvidia only

Hopefully they'll fix the drivers first though. They're pretty shocking in my experience. Nowhere near as good as the desktop drivers.

I've had the same experience with Nvidia but that was years ago so I couldn't definitely say they still suck now. The rate AMD are going with there drivers because of Koduri I have hope he can turn it around

IMO the current state of affairs with AMD (dedicated) mobile GPUs are a joke. The apus seem to be fine for the most part.

nVidia win hands down with the mobile market. If AMD pull through its unlikely that they can become top as nVidia never seem to rest easy with mobile gpus.

I've got a Clevo P150EM with a 7970m and whilist it isnt problem free, it isnt exactly a massive problem either.

Though I agree I have much less problems with my 980m sli notebook.

Too bad they couldn't bump the performance by 20% and drop the price by the same amount. It would be nice to see them take an aggressive stance in terms of price.

It's a tough one - they need to make money. They hemorrhaged over the last couple of years and it's a fine line between getting market share by selling for a small loss or next to no profit and keeping viable.

They don't have the deep pockets of MS or Sony to flog hardware cheap and make the money back from the software (Like PS4 v XBone)

If they did cut prices Nvidia would simply match them for a similar product line and wait for AMD to fold.

I'll be keen to buy AMD for my next GPU if it's comparable as far as quality v performance v price v efficiency.

It doesn't have to be the best, just on par.

Any increase for them in the mobile segment is an improvement. Even if they hit 20% market share(assuming they are close to zero as Idk the actual number) that would be a huge success and a very nice increase in much-needed revenue.as long as they can gain market share in mobile they will be successful.

I should be excited for the new huge performance boost that the 16nm/14nm move will bring but I'm really not ^_^

It will bring more of a power efficiency boost than raw performance. One of the engineers said between the Finfet/14nm change and the architecture, it's about a 70/30 split. Meaning 70% of the performance they have gotten so far is because of Finfet/14nm and 30% due to architecture. That's still no where near the 2x increase in power efficiency though. I think overclocking will bring much more performance increases to make up the lack of raw increase we will be getting due to Finfet by nature being extremely quick(and far quicker than 28nm planar) at switching transistors from on/off.
