I've seen a couple of people very frustrated with AMD for not being able to buy a 3900X. I can imagine some may have gone with an Intel CPU instead.

Why go Intel when all they had to do was wait a couple of weeks? I missed the first shipment (preorders) of the 3900X but got one within a few days afterwards @mrsp.

Go into Enterprise and you'll see shortages! Tier1s massively complaining about availability for Intel mobile sku's and Xeon's with 14 week lead times.
