AMD are expected to detail Zen+, Navi and Vega at their Financial Analyst Day

It's "hear" ya illiterate something something. :D I just hope we hear something encouraging, as I'm sorely tempted to grab some used 1080's at this point.

Hmmmm I posted a message about this item at 0118 AM UTC. I received a BOT EMail response stating my post violated Terms of Agreement because it was not supported and was being moved into "Quick News". See Post # 1696

Seeing as my post was not published I replied I replied to the email at 0140 AM UTC with this very link.

At 0140 AM UTC replied to the email with the link to the wccftech article cited above.

At 0143 AM UTC this post appears in your News Forum where I made the original post.

A coincidence ? I find that very hard to believe as the wccftech article was published some 4 hours prior at 2100 hours PM UTC Sunday. Yet this post appears minutes after my post.

A little slimy don't you think ?

Not a coincidence and not slimy. As for your post, you didn't follow the guidelines.
Besides whatever you think, any post in the quick news thread is allowed to be taken into a full blown article by any of the OC3D employees. Just so happens it's usually always WYP. Since he is the head of News.
Besides even if it was "slimy". It's not like you even made the article in the first place. You have no right to take credit just because you "found it first"

Just 8 more days until we can finally here something about Vega

NeverBackDown I would not get your hopes on the expectations of a big revelation. It would appear to me that some sort of problem has been holding up the release of Vega.

It appears this announcement is in response to the AMD Stock sell-off last week that sprang from the conference call where company brass downgraded Q2 expectations. They want to settle the nerves of jittery investors. This announcement will be about the overall direction of the company in the near future. There will be a tidbit or 2 about Vega but I wouldn't get your hopes up that the record will be set straight. The future of AMD as a company lies with Naples. I would expect the largest single share of the time to be devoted to it.

AMD stock has been trading pretty much even since the Markets opened this morning.

Not a coincidence

Thanks for the honesty

and not slimy.

That's your opinion

As for your post, you didn't follow the guidelines.

Well those are some strange guidelines. Terms of Use Agreements are designed to protect the operator of the board from financial liability. In this case it is violation of Copyrights.

It is plainly obvious my post were of my own words after reading the article. That is how you avoid Copyright Infringement. Cutting a pasting the entirety of an article without attribution is a violation of Copyright Laws.

Besides whatever you think, any post in the quick news thread is allowed to be taken into a full blown article by any of the OC3D employees.

So its ok for the OC3D staff to do it but not the Board Members ?

Just so happens it's usually always WYP. Since he is the head of News. Besides even if it was "slimy".

Thanks for acknowledging the obvious.

It's not like you even made the article in the first place. You have no right to take credit just because you "found it first"

I don't seek credit, just the common courtesy of given the attribution for taking the time to type up an original message bringing attention to a news item that nobody had reported including the OC3D Staff. They obviously thought the announcement warranted a thread of its own.

Are you this acerbic with everyone else on this board ? I have to give you credit for selecting your moniker. "NeverBackDown" leaves no doubt that you are challenged quite often. Wear it well.

You are not a board member first off. You are a user on an online forum.
And as stated in the Quick News Thread on HOW TO POST in this thread if you bothered to read it.
Now, as with the regular news threads, there are a few rules:

- Don't post just one (off-site) link. Your post will be removed.

- Anyone can take your small update and turn it into its own, full news item thread.

- If you found the information on another site/newspaper/social media, be sure to include a source (link).

- If you post big news updates ie
1) A new Intel socket or CPU line-up.
2) AMDs next gen GPUs.
3) Tiny Tom Logan found streaking in London.
These will be written up by the team like their lives depended on it, please dont take offense

You did not follow and/or read this.
As for your strong desire to be recognized for posting something that isn't even yours( you did not even link a source!), it'll only be mentioned if our News Guru did not see it first. If he genuily did not see it and found it from your post, then he will mention you. If he already saw it and was working on the article and then came by your post, you still won't get credit. He does more than just News Articles, he may not have the time to post on a certain day.
If this bothers you, then do not post in the Quick News thread. It's how it's worked since WYP became the News Guru.

As for my name. It's from a cool movie. I'm glad I wear it well, I'd like to be famous:D

Just to clarify a few things.

First off I had written and posted that article before I spotted Radioman's post, looking into the rumours of an AMD event to find that the "mystery event" that some sources are hyping up is, in fact, AMD's Financial Analyst day.

In the news subforum, new threads require moderator approval to be shown, with response times varying greatly depending on when moderators are online. Radioman's initial post was at 2:18am UK time, which when a lot of OC3D's userbase is fast asleep.

I did not notice this thread until around 11am here in the UK, an hour after this thread was created. I then moved the post to the Quick News thread where it was most suitable and contacted Radioman via PM to inform him that the thread was moved and thank him regardless for his post.

My policy here is that anything that I see first in either quick news of via a news thread is credited to that OC3D user. Sometime I will have written an article on a subject before I spot a relevant news post from one of our users, but understand that my eyes cannot be everywhere at once.

One other thing to note that responding to an automated email will not send any information to me, so the best way to contact me or any of OC3D's other moderators is via PM on the forums. With regards to Radioman's email, I never recieved it and it is likely that no staff has seen it. Even so, I would not have been able to get an article on the site and a post on the forums in under 3 minutes (that is provided I get the email immediately), that is simply not possible.

I hope this clears up a few things.

In response to this kerfuffle I will have a look at the News Forums rules and ensure that it uses clear language and that the rules can easily be understood. It has been a while since they have been last edited.

I just hope we hear something encouraging, as I'm sorely tempted to grab some used 1080's at this point.

Bartacus it would appear this meeting is being used to calm the nerves of the jittery investors who were burned in last week's slide of AMD's Stock Price. What's interesting is the word on the street was the slide was caused by the Guidance issued for Q2 in the conference call not the Q1 earnings report. It was common knowledge the Earnings numbers going into the call would be disappointing.

So why would AMD Brass issue such an underwhelming outlook for the immediate future. There was nothing in the Guidance Report that revealed any clues. There is word on the street including this forum that AMD is experiencing Supply Chain problems. We also know these types of problems are nothing new for AMD.

Hopefully next week there will be an Analyst or Reporter present at the meeting possessing the skill and cunning to pry the skinny out of AMD.
