sounds like a good idea. Except games dont usually use smp setups. So to take advantage of this system there should either be games for it or AMD would have to use Inverse-HT , which if it does , it will rip conroe out of its socket and throw it to the wolves. :D

Ooooooooh! Someone hook me up with a 4x4 system. Can't wait to see what actually hits the shelves for this, and exactly how well it performs. Bringing the power of server technology to gamers, w00t!

I read somewhere that the new intel stuff after conroe (forgots its gay name) owns this already, cant recall the source though

At any rate go amd and intel :p

Kentsfield is what your thinking of. conroe's successor. its basically two 4mb cache conroes stuck together. i'm not sure if they will really blow this idea out of the water. we shall have to wait and see...

You DO know that intel is going to have to pull something other than FSB when their Quad Cores come out right ?? The biggest thing going for AMD atm is scalable Hyper Transport. Without something similar to HTT , intel's quad core will be heavily bottlenecked and at the same time the cost of the mobos are going to be high since the IMC is on the NB and thus costlier to produce. AMD rules the server market right now , especially with their 4x4 way opteron servers. Xeon , Kentsfield and so on are scalable only to 2 proc systems. Put 4 or 8 processors in there and watch opteron walk all over Intel's face. Intel knows that .
