AMD 8120 Overclocking issue

hi guys, just built my new rig and started to look at cpu overclocking. i have an AMD fx 8120 on a asrock 990fx extreme 3 motherboard being cooled by a corsair h60. i have managed to overclock from the standard 3.1 ghz clock to 4.1 ghz. this seems to be fairly stable, with decent temps at around 32 degrees. i know that to go higher i need to change the voltage but when i do so and then try to go to 4.2 my system does not boot so i try again with a slightly higher voltage and still no luck. i have heard of others with this setup achieving 4.6 ghz. does anyone have any suggestions as to what could be causing the boot failure? thanks in advance guys.

Tell me the rest of your components. Tell me the stock and overclock voltage.

okay well my stock voltage was 1.3750v and now i have ramped up to 1.4000v and have managed to reach 4.2ghz

Have you tested it for stabiliy? How are your temps?

yess done a short stability test for an hour seems fairly stable with average temps of 36 degrees

Then go for more. Jump to 4.5 2ith 1.42V. If it's not stable increase till it is.
