Here's to hoping that FM3 socket does not suck and they can get good boards.. as of now they are few boards worth getting for AMD.

I'm pretty excited though I must say. Hopefully they can at least match an i7 4790k with their top end unit or beat it!

For the FX line the jump from 32nm to 14nm is massive. Even without any architecture improvements the die shrink alone should be worth 40 to 60% speed bump. Cooler, less power hungry, all in all a massive improvement.

We all need AMD to keep Intel honest.

After the Bulldozer fiasco, I'm a little gun-shy. I have to admit that rumors abound and that they sound good too.
I'll wait to see reviews from my favorite tech sites, and read comments from early adaptors before I jump aboard.
I'm more interested in their new GPUs than I am their CPUs.

cmon Amd give us a reason to care, i dont want to give intel my monies again this cycle as im due major upgrades this time around.

I am excited for this because and I hope these new processors will be able to start competing with intel's higher end CPUs.

man a competitive AMD cpu would be so awesome. Hopefully they get a good yield per wafer so they can earn a bit of cash too

This sounds like good news and appealing to be honest, would be nice to see AMD come around again and bring some competition to the market :)

Despite Intel being on 10nm next year.. at least they finally moved down in node sizes! Even though it'll be lower, it's much less a disadvantage then in comparison to how it is now.
I doubt 10nm will be ready for next year for desktops atlest, 14nm skylake is supposed to be the end of this year...anless these AMD chips prove to be competition then intel may hurry them up.

Just be wary looking at the roadmap, assuming it's accurate that is, although you'll know soon if the date mentioned on the slide is true.

It kind of makes it look like the stuff will be coming in early 2016, what it really means though is that it'll be sometime in 2016. Anyone who wants the "Summit Ridge" FX CPU could have to wait until the end of next year.

Lets hope that doesn't happen though. ^_^

10nm will be end of 2016 according to intel. That means if these chips do release next year they will be equal in node size for a bit.. first time since 32nm iirc.

Intel prices have already started climbing lately. I'm not sure if it's just a temporary market thing that you see pretty often, but we definitely need AMD back.

Could just be because its more expensive to make.. as we know the further we move down the node size the harder it is to get good yields despite making more chips per wafer. After 22nm is when we stopped seeing the great yields with low complexity.. its been downhill from there.

No I actually meant the current Haswell and Refresh chips have all gone up 20-30 euros since a few months! Weird stuff.

Oh ok I wasn't sure which you meant:)

Well in the US the prices have rose $10 but most are still "on sale" for the original price they used to be. Some deal eh? lol

I hope these new AMD chips at least give an i7 a run for the money. Maybe it'll force intel to drop prices a tiny bit.
