The whole downloading of mp3, in all it`s purchasable guises, is the industries realization that people are going to download mp3 for free anyway - so lets make it easier for them to do it legit and tag a nominal price on it.

Drm is where it goes iffy.

I know what you mean. I'd rather have something physical, like a CD. Album artwork and other stuff too.

might be a nice alternative for ppl that hate iTunes. personally idk if have something physical for CD wise, i just see CD's phasing out more ppl on mp3 players

The reason I would never do this is that in the future technology for compression and storage will get better. They have only used 256Kbps CBR, very disappointing. If they had used decent VBR the same file size it would have been a lot better; still in 10 years lossless compression will probably be viable for portable players. Knowing that I have unadulterated original quality is necessary to me.
