i would reccommend these to anyone wanting 5.1 but not having the space for all the speakers

:wavey:

Those look nice. Are they open air, or enclosed? Good for wearing long periods of time without making ur head all hot and sweaty, etc? These would be good for me when I'm playing BF2142 late at night and don't want to wake up my neighbors.

TBH frag i have them for 3 hours but i have not took them off and they dont make my ear sweat and the spks are all internal.

if you looking for a pair then these are kool i would buy another if these broke

fingers crossed they dont

No point in 5.1 headphones, they don't offer any advantage over stereo phones tbh.

Something like Sony Eggos or some Senns are a far better choice.

80 quid for headphones NO way

i paid 20 for these ones

:wavey:

well they ARE 7.1. £80 is ALOT i agree but some sennheiser's and creative earphones / headphones go way over that

I found my medusas to be a huge advantage on CSS when I got them. You can actually pinpoint their position and track them along the wall if you want :p

Ye they look nice. Must ask about them :)

And @ Phnomn_penh - you obviously dont play any competitive online games where you need to hear where your opponents are coming from - sterao one are nowhere near as good for that

It's a gimmick tbh. You can't triangulate sounds properly so it doesn't really do any more than stereo phones.

As for £80, you could get a decent mid range iem's like Sure EC2s/3s or Etymotic ER6i's (for a bit more) which offer better sound quality than anything else on the page tbh ;).

I used to. 5.1 headphones do not give the same effect as 5.1 speakers do, and tbh you don't really need to hear to well, you just need decent reactions. Look at someone like wendle, he doesn't use all the gimmicky crap he puts his name on, he kicks some serious butt though.

I've tried headphones ranging from £20 to £300 and none work better than either the medusa's or the Zalmans. The 5.1 is crude, but it works incredibly well in online gaming.

Please don't talk about it until you have tried it. All people who have tried it in our gaming community recognise how much better they are than standard headphones

Not even the more expensive surround sound headphones?

As for not having tried them, I got a pair of the Zalmans when they originally came out (before they had the mic etc), and they were soooo crappy compared to the sennheiser phones I'd been using before I gave them to my brother.

They also have awful sound quality :p

Phnom,

i fodun that with a bad sound card, my 5.1's werent really much of an advantage, however wen i got a decent one, they really are a huge improvement over stereo phones.

im no audiophile, so i cannot really vouch for sound quality, but i can tell you that i know where people are on a map wit my 5.1's, and 2 other people are saying the same thing.

im not sure if you ever played counterstrike wit those zalmans, but im sure you would have noticed a difference. and even if the sound was bad, dont rule out the possibiility that there is an advantage with medusas, becasue you have 3 people telling you there is.

u just like contradicting people lol

I've been using my Sony studio monitor headphones on my new rig for gaming which ran me about $500 a few years ago and I love em, they work great for gaming! I would definately be interested in trying a set of 5.1's or 7.1's though. Do any of them have a digital connection, either optical or coaxial?

I never tested real expensive 5.1's but the medusa's were slightly better than the Zalmans. I use the Zalmans for gaming as they're cheap and positionally when playing CSS I can follow the people through walls with them on...they're that good.

Anything I want good quality sound I turn on my set of 1/2 decent surround sound speakers from digital out :)
