It seems that retailers estimate that almost 1/3 of Microsoft's Xbox 360 Consoles will be visited by the Red Ring of Death. One just has to hope they aren't part of that group.

Yeah witnessed this. So many different causes listed and chances are u`r one will be none of them.

How well does the rma system work ?

Once was in a Gamestation store near me, Their Xbox 360 was dead, the red ring of doom, and a guy was in replacing it with another.

No sooner had he walked out the store it died also :D

The RMA system is ace... i sent mine off and had it back within 2 weeks. They were really helpful over the phone aswell. Its a good job really. I have had 2 break on me already.

RMA turnaround sounds pretty good.

Although it would seem worrying that they`re that good cos their maybe used to it.

2 break for one user, unless u`r kicking them :p, is pretty bad going.

We had one for a while, probably 8 months. Premium console w/HD-DVD player, and all them goodies. It worked great, then my Dad eBayed it and bought a Toshiba HD-A20 HD-DVD player to replace it, lol. It was in the home theater room/master bedroom area so I barely played anyway, meh but, it worked fine? He played many hours of Gears on it just fine.

EDIT: It's constantly 68-72F up there (20*C - 22*C), that may be why it didn't fail. That and it was plugged into a MonsterCable power filtering thingy.

lot cooler in the uk and the failure rate is pretty high, Microsoft are still stating its below the FCC rules. Not sure if its true or not.

Dno mine seemed to be display problems both times. nothing to with heat. But all praise to their RMA service. I still love the console.. its breaking dosent really anoy me.

Hmm, never had any trouble with my console personally. Know about 6 people with them too, just mates and stuff, but they've never had any problems either. Don't know if it's just luck or whether the 1 in 3 is a little exaggerated :)

Looking at how many of my friends have broken, that doesn't seem too far fetched. Really it is unnacceptable even if they do a good jub with the RMA's.

30% sounds about right from the complaints on the internet. I feel sorry for those not techie enough to blag a free warranty return :(

RMA is pretty good, pickup is free by courier, but it does take about 10-15 working days

had mine freeze in games a few times (when i say few i mean about 5 times in the last year if that) i knew about thte ring of death but still bought one
