thought i would post some initial thoughts on this as its out today ... its a complete and utter port the fps never goes about 60 it doesnt even use 850mb gfx ram at 1440.. its DX9 and over all the gfx look pants might aswell be playing it on the xbox..... not played much of the game yet ill update when iam further into it about the game... it does however support applets for the g19 and g13 :S woop de dooo lol shame about it being DX9

it suxs utter balls im sorry to say dont really wanna spoil it for others but you can play on hardened dificulty and the aliens ignore you on single player..

mp is its only saving grace im glad i hired it as theres no way in hell ill be paying £42 for this peice of utter garbage waited 8 years for nothing.
 
lol thats quite harsh.. it has a few nods to 'fans' i've played the first section of the campaign n it seems 'okay' but if you were expecting it to be awesome then I think that's your fault really lads. The clues...

1) 100% embargo on all reviews/videos and information before release
2) £10 steam discount before launch and said embargo
3) No 'on pc' videos before launch, only screenshots

tbh, from what i hear it looks like dog crap on the consoles, and to be fair, for a console port the textures etc aren't like.. completely fail on pc they've improved it a bit.

You should have known it was going to be at least a bit rubbish :P
 
Easy to get past the 60fps lock,it is a simple .ini tweak(same with most Unreal engine games)

Just edit this line:
bSmoothFrameRate=TRUE to FALSE

Which is in "PecanEngine.ini"

As for the rest,it is trash.

i've seen a livestream of it and it was mental pain. god how can stuff like that release nowadays? but i think the same about nearly every new game, basically every fps without mod tools and dedicated servers is utter crap. i wonder how the devs can release games that incomplete and that terrible, they all experienced the quake era.
 
I think there plan is to get people to buy this game after seeing the awesome trailer cause it did look good, but its not going to sell from word of mouth i dont think... cause its garbage

like every other game as well. it's terrible what happend to gaming, god damn money hungry publishers. call me a hipster, but i wish gaming would still be a non mainstream thing.
 
no way i just read the game was made by the same guys who made borderlands? what's wrong with them? i mean borderlands wasn't that bad.
 
another thing i found out about it...... its been in production for 8 years !!! and this its what they came up with lol

The same guys also made Duke Nukem Forever, looks like this game is just as bad as that was. Glad I didn't preorder it. :D

did you hear any good about it before release? tbh i just yesterday found out that it exists at all. i mean it's a game with a movie IP, chances it sucks are pretty high. i have zero idea why anyone would come up with the idea to preorder it, even as a fan of the movies.
 
some of the earlier avp games were good.. AVP gold by rebellion etc was epic, avp2 was less good (but i blame monolith for that)

The issue with these things is I find they always end up on the wrong engine, i mean the UE3 engine doesnt exactly scream, dark hidey fast nimble aliens. It's more of a slow, hulking big horde of locust kind of engine... its just not right.

They should have used the engine from Fear / Condemned, that had cloaking (predator) luminescense (predator blood) speed of movement (those cloaky things move VERY fast) for the aliens etc etc etc It was the PERFECT engine, jumpy, great sound, great speed, particle etc. But no.. a proprietary one for the latest AVP which was pants (i mean sync kills?! come on ffs) and now this on UE3.. just bad decisions. They reckon they're fans but it's bullshit, no fan would make this tosh
 
talking about engines i would have liked to have seen a sandbox spacecraft using CryENGINE® 3 where you could just run about the whole ship doing what you want escaping in pods n stuff would have been awesome !!!!!

imagine what the aliens would look like in this http://www.crytek.com/cryengine/cryengine3/overview

im no game dev like dont even know if you could do it with this engine but it would be good if you could

would probably rape your rig. also quake engine > every other engine :P
