TY farid ! wheeee ! And don't forget to keep up with what could be a resurgence of demonstrations in the US now that the republicans are targetting unions and worker rights. Wisconsin may just be the tip.

lol to touch on filekutters tea bag reference, here is a small slice of down south mentality.

Tea baggers can't spell. If it wasn't for republicans I might be able to have cheaper health insurance. But that would be COMMUNISM /gasp

Oh and it IS spelled "GUV'MENT"

YOu're in the south too?!! I"m just here to help my sister, and suffering a huge amount of depression and feelings of uselessness. Its gotten so bad I want to just dress in a micro-mini with a skimpy chainmail top, a couple daggers, and go postal. But, I digress. Tennessee is about to vote out union rights, and with the new republican majority from heck, its going to take hold. This state is F***ed.

OH, and yah.. saw the pics. I found an interesting essay/video that spoke to how people have been dealt a stereotype of being "happily less-intelligent" starting in the 1950s, which really blew my mind. Premise is... the "redneck" image was manufactured, and hyped in media to the point that now a whole strata of our population have accepted themselves as inherently "quaint and ignorant", and now glorify it with slogans, images, and other representations of cultural identity. I'll look around for the documentary and post when I find it. Its a very strange reversal of the Jim Crow image white people had of black people, ie: happy in their ripped, and patched clothing and scrounging for a meal etc etc. Its truly bizarre.

this is all worrying stuff, makes me wonder if we're on the brink of some kind of global revoltion, many countries have populations that are unhappy with their governments...

The not so subtle hand of Murdoch and Fox News can be partly at blame for selling fear and propaganda to those who are unwilling to research the facts, those who don't have enough time in the day and turn on glenn beck, or the third set of people, people who are genuinely racist and love the prospect of fear looming around every corner. The whole dem/repub system has to go. Its just a game that is played solely looking forward to the next election. Representatives couldn't be more disconnected if they tried. And the ones that want to help, want to do good, feel so helpless against such rampant corruption. Wall Street runs the country, while republicans do whatever they can to make this country a TWO class nation. Rich vs Poor. No middle-class. All the republicans have to do is throw out a word like socialism, and all the ignorant rednecks get all riled up. "Not in my country" "We don't want government running healthcare". The big businesses need regulation, I don't know why people don't get that. But as the voters become younger, and the world changes, in this information age, I see more intelligent, reasonable people coming forth to get involved. I think these gun toting, ignorant rednecks, will truley be in the minority within a decade or two, as all of the racist old, anti-gay old people die off. I hope! /rant

@ionicle: I think you see it, I sure do. And its not stopping there. I see the beginnings of new movements here in the US too; just look at Wisconsin, then the other states where there is a blatant, and precise attempt being made to remove all semblances of the "People's" rights. Not just the right to organize (although that is the move being made at this time, and even making public employee striking illegal), but removing our voice and our sources of information from the public domain. NPR (National Public Radio, non-commercial free radio, for you Euros) is about to be killed for a start, and don't forget that Clear Channel and Fox have basically co-opted our news/information sources. Boingboing.net has an example of the kind of danger this poses with a link to a video showing Fox's blatant manipulation of a news story about CPAC vote by mixing different videos from a past vote at the same facility.

Corporate interests have a vested interest in reducing cost overheads, and are beginning to seem to feel they are no longer part of the great society, but are a "different" society; a society that doesn't wish to share the costs and pains of being in a social group, but to remove themselves from the equation. To facilitate this only requires one thing... the removal of the middle class. That, is the goal.
