i was just wondering, is This Psu powerfull enough to power the system in my sig? its the one i have atm, but i have a chance to get a Corsair 520W psu, the ones manufactured by seasonic, i was just wondering if i should, or if my akasa was ok? :)

thoughts people? :)

The Akasa should be fine mate, although for future-proofing etc I'd feel better with a 520w with that system, with that 400w PSU working at 80% efficiency it will only output ~ 320w

i dont have a power hungry graphics card though, like most people, a 6800GT isnt going to draw that much power really.....

i'm like 90% convinced into getting the corsair, i feel like i just need a reason to justify it lol

i mean the akasa is like almost silent

but the corsair is modular, therfore all the cables i dont need, dont have to be plugged in...hmm

aye, i considered that, but a 6800GT was just a tad cheeper than an 8800ultra :p

nah, i guess i could get an 8500/8600GT though

What i meant was following up kemps future proofing really. The 6800 is a perfectly capable card atm, but in 6months itll take a beating. And that gives you 6 months too save for a new card and not worry about the PSU.

I say go for it:D. Keep the other as a spare.

hmm, posibly.......

i'm not into gaming that much though, my main concern tbh, is getting processor power up for folding :D

and perhaps more ram...

or somthing else, which i havent yet seen....

Get the new power supply. The amount of power that C2D is sucking is a lot more than you think it is. Your current consumption is substantially higher than the TDP your chip is rated at. In addition to powering a mid-level gpu, you probably could use some amperage.

What are your dual rails rated at? That's very important.
