Some very serious news has been appearing on news websites stating that an Airbus A330-200 with 228 onboard lost radar contact and all communications just off the coast of Brazil. The flight was from Rio to Paris' Charles De Gaulle airport and was due to arrive this morning. Rescue teams have been dispatched to the last reported position of the aircraft.

I believe that this is the first time that an Airbus A330-200 type aircraft has crashed.
My best wishes to go to those onboard and their respective families and friends. While hoping for the best, I am however fearing the worst as a total loss of radar and comms is usually a tell tale sign of a compromise in the structural integrity of the aircraft.
