Adviced needed for my first watercooling setup

Hello, im planing to cool a FX 8120 cpu and a two way cf of the hd 7970, all oc.

And as this is my first time i deal whit watercooling im a bit lost.
Was wondering to get 2x XSPC RX480 rads (yes i can fit those), one for the cpu and the other for the 2 gpu-s, is that fine?

Should i make it all one loop whit a single pump and reservoir or go for 2 pumps and 2 reservoirs?

I also dont know what pump to get?

This is the cpu block i had in mind http://goo.gl/gw7Nn
This is the gpu block http://goo.gl/M9uxs

2 480's will be very very ample to cool those parts I'd go single loop to keep it tidy with that much rad you wont see any difference single or dual except in the pocketbook single will save ya. Your gonna want a pretty decent pump I'd say a D5 from any of the brands will be ample.

Those RADS are total overkill! One should be more than enough. I cooled a 6990 (which created more heat than 2 7970) with a single 240mm, and another 240mm for the CPU should be more than enough. I can keep an i5 2500k at 5.2ghz under 78c with an H100, and that is just a simple rebuilt loop.

Soo go whit a single XSPC RX480 for the whole system? i heard the FX8120 consumes alot of power, and im planing to oc it to its maximum, thats why i was wondering to get a separate rad/loop for it, but ok, if you people say its a overkill im gona trust you :)

And, sorry, but whats a D5 pump?

something better like? Im a total noob when it comes to wc, and i just want to be 110% sure before i make my order :)
It would be faster if you just tell me one exact pump instead of me trying to guess, thnx.

mcp655 pump also known as the D5 where are you located in the world?? If your in the U.S. check out performance pcs good prices fair shipping great folks also if you go there they have some discount codes available currently for the 4th of july let me know I can share the codes with ya I just ordered my fans on saturday from them.

these codes are posted on their FB page as well as e-mailed out so no harm posting them here. Good pump choice but you wont need that perticular model if you use a D5 dual bay rez like the alphacool one just a normal mcp655 without the tapped holes and compressions. If you do a cylindrical rez then thats a good choice.

Spend $50-250, get 5.5% off: "4JULY12-55"

Spend over $500 get 8% off: "4JULY12-8"

Those cost more then the rad and the blocks all together

Yea and the last thing you want to skimp on is a res and pump. A cheap res will leak after some time, and a cheap pump can fail leaving your CPU/GPU to fry. Watercooling aint cheap.

allso true if you take "cheap" words out and put may insted of will.

You dont need res if you dont want it its only for looks. Personaly dont like bay res at all they kill the outside look of cases, but thats just me.

mcp655 is a good pump and i doubt it would fail on you, but to me its too noisy on its own. So with it i would buy a cap to damp its noise and all so noise dampening mat. I woulden insert it in bay res as resonance go from it to straigth in case.

Also i would but the money from those over priced pumps to secend rad. there is never too many rads if they stays in case.

Sorry but a res is WAY more than for looks. Unless you can cool the water to room temp in the RAD (Which is pretty much impossible) A res provides cooling as well. Just the water sitting there cools it further.

I do not think you should go into watercooling just for the simple fact you have a LOT to learn still.

Yeah i have build different types of watercooling systems 6 or so years now.
I havent seen any difference on temps with or without separate res(if you dont count t-line or rad with bleed port to them).
It add's more water in the system, i give that, but again you run close loop and all it do in my maind is add more time to warm up and cool down from turning of pc.

But, i have not ever tested one system with and without, so it could be my next "weekend" project on my system in signature.

And yes i learn some thing every day. Untill to day i was assumeing that, you cant cool your water on pc to room temp, even with res.
I know with big axx car rad and/ or peltier attached to one block you may get close, but i mean with "normal" system.
