Our online source has done a comparison benchmark of Photoshop CS3 Beta on Windows XP and Mac OS X. This should bring the fanboys out of the closet! It'll be interesting to see what sort of results we can expect from a Vista machine in the near future. Care to comment?

OSX = heavier than XP.

OSX = great OS.

XP = not so much.

I'm happy something good came out of greedy M$, better PS performances.

ROFL

Get a Mac Pro and install a couple of Clovertowns, Octo Core FTW!

rofl, now that would be the PS3 pwnage :D actually that would be the just about anything pwnage.

Hmm :(

Bit strange that it runs faster on XP

Altho it is only a BETA :confused: :) wonder how it will perform on leopard?

I would have expected it to run faster on XP, just about anything runs faster on XP, it's fairly well coded when it comes to executing tasks quickly. GUI based Nix systems have NEVER been as fast as Windows based systems but Windows lacks the same bullet-proof stability and raw power that Nix has to offer.

I'd gladly sacrifice that small extra amount of speed for the rock solid performance of OS X or other Nix distro any day.

My linux install always seemed faster on benchmarking 3d stuff like quake3 etc.

Quake3 in windows timedemo - 350fps

Quake3 in linux (native) timedemo - 450fps

(using the exact same config and demo)

:confused:

Also running WoW on cedega made load times almost 2x faster than in windows :confused: (that's not even native)

Same here, although mine is mostly because Windows is a memory hog and I only have 512MB.

I've never once experienced that. But then again I've never officially run a nix distro for any good amount of time on my main rigs, I always run it on my Dells or older computers which might explain why I feel like it's so much slower.
