Looking at up-grading my rig in the very near future will my current psu (seasonic s-12 600w) but able to handle a single 640mb 8800gts or do i need to get a bigger supply?

Rest of rig (suggestions/improvemnts welcome)

p5b deluxe

2*1gb ram

8800gts 640mb

e6600 core 2 duo

2*raptors

2*500gb sata

p.s not entirely sure if this is in the right area

Agree totally with Thickie - unless you overclock everything to the max at which point the higher load might make your PSU fans scream for mercy - but no harm in trying to see how far you can go - overclock each component individually to see how far each piece can go then group the clocks together - if you can achieve those clocks and the PSU sounds 'normal' then you are good to go.

If not then the options are - upgrade the PSU or drop the clocks until you find a nice balance.

BTW- nowt wrong with your component selection, very nice in fact - look forward to seeing your new entries in our benchmarking team section :)

While I agree with others that say the PSU is one of if not the most important component of a good PC and that it is important to have reserve watts a lot of people over estimate how much power they actually need. Your 600W seasonic is a high quality PSU (I have one) and will be fine (IMO).

Cheers guys, I'll do a few benche's on the old rig and post aswell, hopefully this weekend but a m8's coming down from london and that means drinking sessions 8) so might be the following weekend.

On a side note do you reckon its worth waiting for the x38 chipset and getting ddr3 or wait for all the bugs to be ironed out?
