What is that bracket infront of the box? Is it for mounting?

Some laptops require a 2.5" drive of a certain thickness. This drive is a 7mm slim drive and will have a 2mm thick plate to allow the drive to be used in 9mm enclosures and laptops to prevent any rattling etc.
