A Reason to Switch

Finally a compelling display and solid reason to switch to Team Green...

HDR Check
Ultrawide Check
Likely 10 Bit Panel Check
Variable Refresh with High Range/High Refresh Check

So they have changed the base in the final version of this monitor... Although I am personally having a difficult time deciding between this or the ASUS one. As I personally find the ASUS one a bit more sleek in the design, just a small ROG logo on the front, rather than the red shadow "PREDATOR".

Well its the same panels

Yeah the G-Sync HDR panels are being made by AU Optronics, so the panel quality etc is down to them.

That being said, the manufacturers do still play a big part, alongside Nvidia with their G-Sync modules and ASUS/Acer's own design inputs.

i used to be skeptical of acer products, but after buying an older predator monitor was very happy and my next monitor will very likely be an acer, shame the gsync monitors are eye watering expensive.

With all the terrible quality control from these pseudo high-end monitors, Acer usually comes out on top as being the most consistent. They all have a terrible reputation, but at least Acer doesn't charge as much as ASUS for the same frickin' thing. AUO have completely ruined my opinion of high-end panels. I was considering swapping to Gsync/Nvidia, but the situation hasn't changed in two years; the monitors are still suffering from appalling and unacceptable quality control issues. I'm not paying a premium unless I know I'm getting a good product. These clowns are selling specifications and dreams. For some people, that dream is three returns, a runaround, and an eventual acceptance that you can't play Dark Souls III in the dark.

I must say that you seem to sound a lot like King of old school used to be, very negative about everything lately...

No I'm not. You're just seeing the negative.

Great option for pros, or any one needing lots of lanes :)

I've been looking at this for ages. If my mech board dies it's definitely going to be my next keyboard. The price is awesome too, plus Cougar's stuff is made very well for the price.

Everything Lepa/Lepatek make is nicely put together. I've had their fans and a couple of other bits so I know how well made they are.

The noise of my mech board really does do my head in sometimes.

Are among my last few posts. Is that enough for you? have I upset you? do you like Acer monitors?

Please, do not compare me to some one who only loves one product and then whines and moans about pretty much every other product.

Given what I am going through right now I find it totally insulting that you would compare me to him. I should be incredibly negative right now. Instead I have been doing pretty much everything positive. Working on PCs, getting my black suit and shirt ready for a funeral and so on.

Grow up kid.

I'm on my 3rd ASUS PG279Q

Love the monitor and performance but I shouldn't have had to get 3. Even the one I have now has a singular dead pixel but unfortunately this is deemed "ok" by the warranty

I really want to see Samsung or LG start to create high performance panels to compete with AU coz I'm skeptical about the quality control

Consider a panel with only one dead pixel a one in a hundred chance to find when it comes AUO crap. It doesn't stop it being frustrating when it took three times to get to that stage, but I would consider myself fortunate if I had only one dead pixel to contend with. I have two and I don't notice them. It's BLB and other issues that are the worst.
