Is there any technical reason why a manufacturer couldn't put both G-Sync and FreeSync into a single monitor. I realise you would need to double up on some components as G-sync only supports a single input. I just find it ridiculous that there is now another component which will tie you to the red or green side, and with monitors it could be for a very long time as not many people change the screen as often as their graphics cards.

If they made a smaller screen size they could probably get the refresh rate up a tiny bit as 75hz is little low. I run my 1080p monitor at 75hz(OC'd) and tbh it's not that noticeable of a difference.

There is a technical reason. One requires a custom scalar.. that's it. It's not designed to run FreeSync. And no you won't be tied down with AMD, at least in the future. Just Nvidia. Nvidia can support Freesync but they won't. FreeSync is open standard and anybody can use it. Heck LG could put Adaptive Sync(Freesync) into an 80" TV if they wanted too. Freesync has the best chance of lasting longer.

Tempted to get the Freesync version even though I have dual Nvidia GPU's. Monitors do last longer than my average graphics card and $200 US (about $260 Australian) price difference buys a lot of other fun parts. I wonder if you can just set it to run at 75hz and leave it at that?

What's the purpose of getting it then

Well I'm after a 21:9 to replace my 3x24s and just wondering if instead of letting it freesync the range (it won't with Nvidia GPUs anyway) could it just run at 75hz. And if it did - would I notice the difference.
That way if I swap out to AMD in 2-3 years I'm not having to sell a Gsync Monitor. With the bonus of money left in the pocket now.
I could also just buy a 60hz with neither free/G technologies so thinking out loud so to speak.

I've been keenly watching this monitor come to market (pun not intended :) ) but at £1000 it's a bit steep. If it were around £800 that would be more justifiable.
