acer 2k4k XB280HK or Asus Swift

Ok I'm stuck deciding on my new monitor, I have a choice of the acer 4k2k XB280HK 4k gsync monitor for £399 or the Asus Rog Swift for £479.

I really can't decide what to get and whether 4k 60hz plus £79 saving is better than 1440p 144hz 3rd vision

I'd go for the Swift. Sub 32" 4k seems pointless to me plus when anything really graphically heavy comes along you'll be well down in fps. With the Swift you should be in the 80-120 area all the time which will be a far nicer experience.

Or you could wait for Acer XB270HU (IPS 1440p 144hz with g-sync and no 3d support)
i wanted to buy a swift for my new rig but i've seen a lot of negative feedback on quality control on many forums.

PG27AQ is on the way soon as well, 4K G-sync IPS Swift.

Personally I use a 28" 4K monitor at home, but I appreciate the text is smaller than a lot of people would like to use, and DPI scaling is still pointless.

Can I ask where you have seen the Rog Swift for £479,you can pm me you don't want to say on the forum.

So wait are ASUS not releasing a WQHD IPS Swift?? I thought they were?

I have not decided yet, I'm still on the fence between the swift and the acer 4k, I'm still concerned about the swift issues that people are having

As JR said, we sort of are - the MG279Q. For some reason it's not a ROG product, but it is a WQHD IPS 120Hz (hopefully 144Hz certified by release) screen.

I grabbed a B grade swift from ocuk and what a screen, mine had clearly had the entire panel replaced as there was a small bit of tape left at the edge of the screen and it was stuck in test mode which was handy as I got to check for dead pixels and light bleed right away and I'm pleased to say it's immaculate.

I threw on farcry 4 with gsync at 144hz and I think I blew my load in my pants!!!!

Now I know what all the fuss is about

It's not realistic, you can play minecraft like games in 4K with this setup.

May be a little bit exaggeration but it does not depend that much.

What are these "reasonable" settings ?

No antialiasing, not very high detail settings but may be high or medium detail settings and so on.

They are may be reasonable to you but not for everyone else.

Clearly not for you. Why don't you actually get a 4k screen with SLI 970s like steverebo and try it out for yourself and see what these "reasonable" settings are before bashing others?? The sarcasm wasn't needed..

4k is doable with current hardware. All depends on the consumer to decide how much is worth investing to crank those settings up. If i even had the chance to run 4k with a 970s in SLI i wouldn't want to leave...
