You need to change the CPU cooler. The H50 is far from being a good cooler. Just save the worry and get a Noctua NH-D14, which is going to beat that H50 by a wide margin-

If you want to overclock your graphics card then get the 460 otherwise the 6870 is for you. You may want to look into getting some Mushkin ram with good timings. The Blackline series is awesome on price to performance ratio. Also check out the Xigmatek Utgard or Cooler Master 690II Advanced, instead of that Asgard.

Toms review said the H50 was decent, going for the noctua would mean I would have to spend more on ram and a bigger case, which I dont have the money for, the whole forum is biased toward the NH-D14 to be honest, I know its the best but you dont NEED it to have a decent rig I would say. Im only looking for something to cool it reasonably well with a light overclock on the 2500k, Im not going for 5ghz or anything. But thanks for the tips on the 460 I will need to think about it

Amd do you actually own H50 or have tested it to claim it's rubbish? I don't say it's the best cooler on market but running 1090T at 4.0 24/7 stable without an issue with temps not going above 34-35degrees as in my case is far from rubbish. And it do look good comparing to noctua.

Tom's word taken from H50 review: " If you want a good looking cooler that doesn't take up masses of space on the inside of your case and gives reasonable temperatures, we can recommend the Corsair H50. It's unquestionably good. It's just not quite at the top of the mountain."

Yeah it just seems like if its not a Noctua NH-D14, then its not even worth looking at, just because TTL considers it the best, which is fair enough, I respect his opinion, but remember its a reviewers opinion.

Im not looking to do alot of benchmarks, like really testing the machine to the limit, I just want a decent rig for gaming and general use.

I have tested the H50 and it is NOT great at all. It will do fine for 10-15 minutes but after that the temperatures just go skywards. I think it's because of there not being enough fluid in the loop, the tubes are small and there is not much of them really. Honestly if you are not going to get a ND-D14 then at least get a decent air cooler. You are not going to be able to run a 1090T 24/7 stable at 4ghz with reasonable temps on an H50.

Somebody on one of the other forums I was on recommended a Coolermaster Hyper TX3 as a cheap cooler, any opinions on that?

yeah aurus is right and this is y the noctua is so talked about on this form nothing beats it on price, and ease of use and quality of build even tho its a £60 cooler its bundled with £30's worth of fans

Yeah but I already have the Corsair XMS3 ram from a friend for nothing so, I dont really want to have to buy ram that will allow me to use the noctua, I heard you need like mushkin ram to fit underneath it

Honestly couldnt tell you, my friend still has them, I just left them there until I get the rest of the stuff

Well sorry to say but my system proves you wrong.I am an on line gamer and my stores in the game on multiple accounts run exactly 24/7.

Attached link to the system.

Either I am so fortunate with my H50 or you are so unlucky with yours.

I did my prime check for few hours, it was stable and without any problems, I don't see a point of running it for 24h. I've been running this system with an occasional restarts for weeks now. It runs multiple Lineage 2 clients + whatever I do in the mean time from watching HD movies, playing civilization 5, to running structural engineering calculations (which is what I do for living). The system runs also 2 screens, 24'' and 46'' both at 1920 x1080. I got my H50 pretty much as soon as they became available and yes, I admit I would not use it for some extreme overclocking (benchmarking or w/e - personally i am not into these things), but for the regular use it's just fine, does the job and in the mean time - looks good. I don't want you guys to get me wrong, Noctua is a better cooler and I never said different, but it does look for me like people and please don't take an offense are a bit close minded.

if you want cool quite with preformance whatever the load nh-d14 or if rams an issue maybe the nh-c14 n yes ive got both the h70 n the nh-d14 n tbh theres no competition theres a reason people go with the noctua n its not because its a looker i admit but for the best prefomance you cant go wrong with noctua
