Abnormal RAM??

So i've built my new rig in the last 2 months and only recently i've noticed my ram only reading 14.4gb of the 16gb i have installed. I went to my friend the bios and its picking it up as "abnormal".

Checked my sticks by doing a little switch around and it seems it is the ram and not the slot (switch from slot B1 to D1 to check this). I'm using 16gb of corsair green which is clocked upto 1600mhz / 1.35v using xmp as bios standard is 1333mhz / 1.50v (which seems wrong for this ram).

I'm wondering is this a common fault with some ram or am i just unlucky as i dont have a temp if i RMA it to corsair. It only really seems to be affecting my boot times from what i can tell and gaming not at all (maybe).

X79 Sabertooth, 16gb Corsair vengance green, i7 3820, 670 DCII.

your system disc with the motherboard should have MEMTEST86. and possibly it
might be imbedded in the BIOS. you should run a full test barrage on the RAM to
sort any issues out, before RMA.

usually in a case like this, i'd power down the rig, disconnect PSU power from
motherboard, remove RAM, reseat (again), repower straight to BIOS (UEFI),
F5 optimal defaults and save/reboot, recheck. if still errored, run MEMTEST86.

if no failure, contact corsair through their support system. they will ask you to
preform test anyway..
