A year to wait for Nehalem mainstream processors

Not a big fan or triband memory tbh, quad would be reasonable - purely on the basis of things adding up.

Not personally disappointed. Something like Q3/2k9, even Q4/2k9, doesn`t bode well for anything mind blowing being release cpu wize for a year or more.

But it does leave a door wide open for AMD to churn something out in the meantime. If they plan it correctly and power their AM3 with enough punch, they could release something mid-2k9 that could sink the Intel boat.

Will AM3 be that much tech tho, I dunno.

I don`t really want to be considering IX58 until mid 2k9 atleast.

Tech`s moving really slow now imo.

I've been putting off an upgrade for Nehalem/Bloomfield and if pricing is going to be too 'off the planet' then I'm gutted. After my last high-end processor purchase (QX9650) the missus went clean off and I can imagine it happening again. Killing off LGA775 to make 2 sockets (LGA 1160 and 1366) sux :(

Well according to that graphic.. In the extreme bracket is the X38 which isn't exactly beyond reach so at least maybe the mobo wont cost the world. I'd certainly hope the cheapest Bloomfield wouldn't cost as much as an extreme.

A year! I don't know if I'm happy or sad! I wanted nehalem out so I could pick up a bargain upgrade in the shape of 45nm cpu and ddr3... Need new toys - sad

Now if I make an upgrade I might get a year out of it - happy

Tech is not really advancing though - sad

No need for expensive upgrade - happy

And so it goes on... PS3 anyone?

Happy that I bought a QX9650 ata bargain price which will now last at least a year rather than the 6 or so months it was planned for:).
