A Watercooling System :D!

Hello there.

I've thought about buying a Water cooling system for my computer, but I'm new in this category, so I want to hear other people's thoughts aswell.

Specs:

I7 2600K

GTX 580 GIGABYTE SOC

ASUS P8Z68 V-PRO

8 GB VENGEANCE 1600 MZH

2 TB harddisc

750W PSU

So Basically I want to cool my CPU and Graphics Card, maybe two.

So if I understand WC correctly, I need a Reservoir, a Pump, CPU waterblocks, CPU waterblocks and some tubing.

Could you guys suggest some nice kits or parts?

Also, which case do you guys think is good for WC?

Can I bring my WC PC to LAN (transport it)?

Thank you for your time!

no point in watercooling that gpu, it isnt reference design so you will still have to passively cool the ram chips etc

transporting a watercooled system regularly isnt ideal and can lead to leaks etc... i wouldnt recommend it but it is possible

if you are doing cpu only which you should be if your using that gigabyte card then the xspc rasa kits are pretty good

I'm also thinking about the Corsair H80, as it would be easier to install etc. How big is the difference Performance Wise?

If you after making life easy then go for a H100 (personally i think there shit, i just had the miss fortune of testing one this week, there a bloody joke). If you after doing some thing and feeling proud and achieving much better temps then go for a Rasa kit.

I see what you mean here. I understand that the Rasa kits are much better in achieving lower temperatures. I'm just thinking to myself that if I buy the Rasa, I have to leak test it and so on. As I stated before, I wrote that I would bring my computer to LAN's every once in a while. Ruthless wrote that if I traveled with it, it could lead to leaks etc.

I'm really not sure which one to buy now. The H100 seams a lot easier to use etc., but the Rasa is achieving lower temps.

Could you point out the difference between the temperatures?

Thank you.

Think of the H100 as a normal Intel stock cooler and the Rasa (with an RX or EX rad) as a NH-D14, thats kind of the difference you are looking at. If you use compression fittings you shouldn't get any leaks, as long as your rig is secured properly whilst being transported you should be ok.

I don't know what exactly the temp difference is or any reviews showing it so I can't link you but you might find some around.

Oh Okay Thanks! Well I think I'll go with the loop then... Without my parents knowing about it... They don't like the idea of water inside a pc xD.

Which parts would you suggest?

For just the CPU I would recommend a XSPC RX240 radiator or a RX360 radiator, it depends on what case you get though. The HAF X will fit a 360mm radiator in the top but the Trooper will only fit a 240mm I haven't seen any reviews of the Trooper yet though so I don't know if you can fit a 60mm thick rad or a 30mm rad. If you can only fit a 30mm rad in the roof of the Trooper then a XSPC EX240 rad would be perfect.

For parts i'd recommend for the HAF X

Radiator - XSPC RX360

CPU waterblock - XSPC Raystorm

http://specialtech.c...-pid-14598.html

Pump + drivebat Res combo

http://specialtech.c...-pid-11202.html

Tubing - Primochill PrimoFlex Pro LRT (get at least 3 meters)

http://specialtech.c...-pid-11312.html

Fittings - 6 x Compression Fitting

http://specialtech.c...-pid-11206.html

For the Trooper the same parts as above but with an XSPC EX240 or RX240mm radiator depending on what thickness rad you can fit in it.

You could also change the pump and res combo for a cylider res and mount the pump separately but if you are moving the rig around for a LAN a drivebay res and pump combo would be better.

You just need to choose your coolant and fans and your done. Mayhems does some good coolants you can find them on Specialtech.

If your after saving money there is the XSPC Rasa full pre make kits that will save you a lot of time and effort in matching every thing up.

please remember there are other re-sellers as well that do kits but im not allowed to post them on here. ST do back up and support you are really friendly so you decide on what your needs and budget are.

There is all so the EK full kit. I have heard along the grape vine (but done quote me on this) the Thermaltake kits are getting much better to.

Water cooling is safe as long as you take you time and plan a head. Ive been doing it now for years and only ever had leaks due to my own fault and never the fault of the kit. All these disaster stories are normally due to ether some one messing up and not being totally honest or very rare events of equipment going wrong. You have more chance of blowing you equipment by putting a dim in the wrong way around.

The only thing you will extra is fluid. So you have to choose what you would like. For a beginner dont go mad and dye every thing. Start of with simple Water (Ultra Pure H20 or DI water) and either a kill coil or biocide. Or if you would like to have a fancy colour you can get a pre Mixed fluid with dyes all ready in them but these will need regular maintenance and i think its much better to start off with just water with out fancy colours.

could you explain this abit more please - I just ordered 2 EVGA gtx 570s 2560mb and they're non reference pcbs as far as I know and I'm plainning on watercooling them (EK do full cover blocks for them)

Why do I need a dual bay reservoir/pump? Isn't that for multiloops?

And Thanks for taking your time to choose the parts for me (;
