Hi guys (and gals?)

This really should have been my first post here, but as it goes I was a bit cheeky and asked for help.

So, I don't have any dedicated folding machines, but I have a desktop and two laptops. As it goes the desktop doesnt get much use at the moment so it might as well be a dedicated folding rig.

I have now moved the desktop over to team 98860 from team 62 (sorry guys). The laptops are still folding for team 62 as I feel guilty lol.

The question is, what am I bringing to the table. On the CPU front a 2600k running at 4.43ghz. The GPUs are a 560 Ti at 900mhz and a 460* (768mb) at 800mhz.

Thats 35kPPD while folding bigadv on the cpu and 14k + 7K on the GPUs.

For the most part the desktop is folding 24/7

*As my first thread says, the 460 is down on PPD between 3k and 4k.

No reason to feel guilty about leaving team 62...the team is a shell of its former self unfortunately and folding just doesn't get much attention over there like it does here. Many of us here left team 62 a long time ago for this reason.

Here you will find a much more active community and actual support from OC3D. I think you'll enjoy it.

I feel bad because I'm leaving behind the first team that got me into folding and it's not the fault of the people left folding there that the team is nothing like it was in years past.

To be fair, the points arn't the be all and end all. It's the cause that come first. Still, I can't help that twinge of guilt...

I too started with team 62 and was in the top 10 for awhile back when the team was active, long before smp and gpu folding. It was hard for me to move as well, but I have no regrets and found some good friends and oc3d in the process. The guilt will pass, mine did.

Last time I looked, I'm pretty sure I saw I would jump into the to 10 producers in team 98860... So I'm going to knock someone out of the top 10, something else to feel guilty about :s

I have to say though, it will be nice to be in a team that moves up the tables rather than down

I'm looking at upgrading the CPU in my 'slow' laptop, currently it has a T7100 in it, even a T7300 would help as I'm mostly wanting the cache upgraded, going from 2mb to 4mb should help with the folding.

If this happens, I might just 'accidently' move it over to team 98860. Does anyone have any idea how much it would help folding going from 2mb cache to 4mb?

I'm also running a hacked bios which allows me to run the CPU constantly in turbo mode even when both cores are loaded. Currently I'm at 2ghz up from 1.8 and a T7300 would boost me upto 2.2ghz.

If only I could do the same on my i5 2410m laptop......

I upgraded from a T7100 to a T9300 in my other laptop. The difference was amazing. T9300 is 2.5GHz with 6MB cache. Think I paid $250 at the time, not sure what they go for now secondhand.

I'm only looking for a cheap upgrade otherwise I'd grab a T9xxx. Can grab a T7300 for a tenner or less at the moment, I'd rather have a T7700 or T7500 even but they arnt quite as cheap.. A T7700 would take me upto 2.6ghz
