A new build ahead!

So, I sold my last build a couple of weeks ago and only having a laptop and a "gamer" from the 90's is extremely annoying. I thought I'd build me a decent new one.

So, I've got 2 options, AMD or Intel?

AMD:

+ Cheap

+ I've got the motherboard already (MSI 870A-Fuzion)

- Not the best performance

Intel:

+ Performance

+ I've already got a mobo lying around (Asus Rampage III Extreme)

- Expencive.

I've only thought myself some Quads, so don't go dreamin' bout Hexas and so on. Just a decent half-way "gamer"

For the AMD I was thinking maybe an 965 with 4GB RAM, and for the Intel I was going for a 960 with 6GB 2k Mhz.

I've also got chassis and PSU ready and awaiting here, it's just what CPU Im'ma go with that's the problem.

I just don't know where to go from here, so some suggestions?

Look into the i5 2500k and i7 2600k, I think they will be more than enough for you.

The thing is that I've already got the mobos for both 1366 and AM3 systems. Ofc I can sell both of these motherboards to get myself an 1155 system but I think it's unnecessary since I'm going for the x58 replace to come.

I was just looking for a "meanwhile" computer.

Go with X58, you already have a good MB for it so might as well go for the better system. You will get far better performance with I7960 then any AMD proc.

Ofcourse I will, but the "performance/dollar" is equals to what compared to AMD?

Tough choise still. ^^

I'd stick with your R3E and intel tbh, the amd setup would work well, but the intel setup is just btr all round imo, and you already have a brilliant board.

The i7 960 is gd value for 1366, and as for ram maybe throw in 6 or 12 Gb of Mushkin Redline ram, it's not 2k mhz, but it will do a great job and is v.oc'able

go down the 1090T BE route mate - those fuzion's are great little overclockers

I had this board RMA'd due to failiure in overclocking, it litterarly went POF in my face x)

Also, the soundcard sucks pretty bad xD

@Icekube: Nah, I don't know about Mushkin since I'm not a big fan of oc'ing RAM, I'd rather go safe with some 2k MHz RAM and stick to the CPU overclocking.

Besides the Dom's from Corsair does look so extremely sexy on R3E! (a)

Here's the chassi I'm building in.

Yes, there's a BLUE fan in my PSU -.- But I'll change it when I order a CPU and some RAM sticks

I think the R3E would fit better than the Fuzion board, since it's gonna be alot of unnecessary costs to replace all the red fans to blue ones. I'm kind of a "stick-to-one-color" guy, so to speak.
