Well, I don't think those prices are real at all...If I convert the price I paid for a brand spankin' new 8800GTS 512 just a couple of months ago, the 9800GTX is just about 10£ more expensive. It doesn't seem real to me at all....
But, who needs Tri-sli? Unless you're only using it to benchmark? I'm ok with my 3Dmark-score of 19k with only 2 cards in SLI. Tri-SLI is overkill and overpriced for any regular end-user.
Right. You could see this as an insult to all those who bough an 8800-card in the recent past. I'm not pro overpricing, but this is rediculous. I mean, have the decency to price the card above £300, at least in the introduction-phase. Then, a month after, drop the prices as much as you want, then your previous costumers won't feel ripped off.
9600GT uses G94 and the 9800GTX uses G92 like the 8800GT and GTS 512.
And you can use tri-sli with resolution as big as 2560x1200 and alot of people have 1900x1200 now. The 9600GTs scale extremely well so im sure the 9800s will scale well too make it a ebtter buy to SLI with than the 8800GT and GTS. So this card isnt exactly pointless, its just a nice upgrade for people like me who have a 7900 series or below.
Price reflect rebadged hardware with a few tweaks. Dont see whats so bad about that. I also dont see why all the 8800 goers are complaining so much. It just means you dont have to fry your wallet becasue a new card came out. But its great becasue a guy like me who wanted an 8800GTS 512mb can get a 9800GTX instead and be current for cheap
