MSI showcases its Radeon RX 6800 XT Gaming X Trio graphics card

I could be tempted, but i'm really hoping that prices will be more in line with msrp or at least not way above the norm, i expect to pay extra for a custom card but not way way above.

Do we have prices yet? Normally AIB partner cards for AMD are relatively close to the reference design prices, at least from AMD-exclusive partners.

It's just when you see the current prices on AIB cards from Nvidia being far higher than msrp i just hope amd fair better.

I have never seen gouging on AMD cards. However, that could be for a few reasons. Firstly AMD could be dead against it, and mark out the rules. Or, it could be because usually they are nowhere near as desirable as Nvidia cards and thus it would be too risky.

I guess we're about to find out huh?

I hope not. The last thing AMD need with this otherwise great launch is bad press and people like me tearing into them :D (yeah I was joking but I will voice my opinion as ever !).

There was the whole cryptocurrency thing, affected Vega, Polaris and much of GCN, admittedly that wasn't what you could call naturally occurring demand, but yeah I don't think AMD can tell sellers what price they have to ask for, and AMD and NVidia don't profit from price gouging so would both rather stores didn't do it, stores just gouge on the basis that it is price matching supply vs demand, IE They would claim it is their duty to their investors to maximise the return on their stock by not selling items at a price that would cause them to sell out "too quickly" or leave money on the table. I don't agree with this principle, I think they should operate on similar rules to ticket vendors in the UK (A system that puts the rights and importance of the customers before that of the investors), you pay the price on the ticket, and it's illegal for third parties & official sellers to scalp on that nowadays (The tale of how Matt Hancock saved the Grime industry), if items sell out then they sell out, but unfortunately for now if these etailers don't do it some rich guy will do it on eBay anyway, as there's no laws stopping them atm.

I just went to CCL and they are being really good about it all tbh. It just says notify me, and doesn't allow you to order.

Every one should start doing that.

Hopefully there is enough supply (yeah, I know now I am being stupid) and they will have a word to make sure pricing doesn't get out of control.

I hope so. It will kinda suck if we now have two bad guys to buy from.
