Epic Games Challenges Steam with Digital Storefront for PC and Mac

Already have Steam, Origin, Uplay, Bethesda Launcher, BattleNet, GOG Galaxy, Microsoft Store, Way too many as it is.

Great. I can't wait to register, install and keep track of yet another one of these. And of course, let's all hope that it never gets hacked and all of our info gets sold on dark web!

I'd be more than happy to switch over than rely on steam. Steam support is f'ing awful and they don't give a rats butt about consumers. Plus with all the money being saved on the Epic storefront I see no reason why games won't be cheaper

You should go on stage with that sort of Comedy routine

Having the game on the platform means they save money, the have easy access to the marketplace, which itself provides quality assets at reasonable prices that in turn speeds up development time and reduces cost, as well as relying on AWS from UE4 that really helps smaller studios get a great foundation for the online part of there games.

It's very reasonable things will be cheaper. I don't think the cost will be massive but shaving a few dollars here and there is certainly reasonable with dlc and etc

I understand where you're coming from, but it's more lightly to be the companies making more profit

Most likely. I just can see the benefit of smaller studios wanting to lower the price compared to others in hopes of sales volume is high enough compared to getting higher margins.

I like the idea. Steam are too big now. Support is disgusting and the library is drowned with poor quality trash.

With the current Steam changes, all those indie devs who pour genuine heart and soul into their games will suffer with Steam taking too much profit away from them, where as the AAA who release bug filled products time and time again continue to reap the benefits with no care.

Imagine the developers of Hellblade: Sensua's Sacrifice having to forgo much of their deserved rewards. We may not have seen their VR mode, or even the charity they helped set up for those suffering.

Time to bring Steam back down to Earth. Competition is healthy when it is in favour of the developers.

Not only that but steam allows so many games onto there platform that it's just absurd. Small games being made just won't ever get the advertisement needed
