88GT and Riva

2 issues really.

1. Even though I selected 'enable seperate 2d/3d overclocking' option when I OC '3D perf', 2D is OC'd too. On my old gts 2D (in normal usage surfing w/e) the card would chill at stock speeds, run a 3D app and it would crank up to OC'd levels. Good for temps, power etc. With the GT it only runs OC'd 24/7.

2. Fan speed. WTF - can't set seperate fan profiles - e.g. 2d - 10%, 3d perf - 60%. I have to keep it at 45% all the time... Ghey.

When I play crysis for hours, sometimes hit esc and go do something else - when I return the machine has hardlocked! Repeating say one second of noise, ctrl alt del does nothing.

This a heat issue?

not sure on the fan speed, but you can blame nvidia for the lack of separate 2d/3d clocking

unwinder mentioned it in one of the threads on guru3d that nv had removed the ability in their recent driver versions

[edit] i've not had any lockup probs with crysis, but i do find it more stressful on my 8800 than other games and so have been using slightly lower clocks *shrug*

fan speeds can be set to change with the temps. did it on my first 8800GT system. Havent done it this time thou. Cant find the guide
