8800GTS Power on a Budget!

Finally got rid of my 7950GX2 at the weekend and got hold of a 8800GTS from a certain place (Wont mention them on here) for £170.

What a bloody great card, all my problems i had before are gone and my games are running AMAZING!

I can run around with 300fps 80% of the time on CS:S

I get a nice 999fps in Warsow and COD2 is nice and steady 110-150fps

Even managed to push the 8800 to 630/900 which i though was a little bit crazy for such a cheap card.

If anyone is having second thoughts about going for this DONT its great!
 
St have it cheaper! :p. Nice upgrade though. What kinda frames did you get with the old card? And what's Warsow...?

What settings/rez you playing with CSS? Im looking too get one of these very soon and im torn between the 320 and 640 versions:(.
 
I run all my games in 1280x1024 apart from Warswo which i run in 1024x768, I use 8xCSAA and 16xAF at all time as well.

I used to get OK fps in Source with the 7950GX2, it could easy hold 101fps at 1280x1024 but the problem was with other games.

I had poor fps in Warsow and COD2 and to fix it i would have to install other drivers that messed up CS:Source :/

Think of it as a mix between Q3 and UT2K4 :) its great!
 
Also from what ive read if you play at 1280x1024 and lower the 320mb version actually out performs the 640mb.

I love this card, its put my faith back into Nvidia!

There not great qual as there only for the Anti Cheat checks, but you get an idea of the FPS i get in some intense areas of Nuke :D

BTW: We lost 16 - 10 :/ playing with 4 people
 
Hmmm, Im thinking of getting the 320mb version of this card, how much improvement do you think I'll get over an X1950XT 256mb ? I swear that's whats holding back my overclock of my E4300 (stuck at 2.6 and it needs 105MHz on the PCI-E bus)
 
I have a E4300 and i run it at 3.3ghz, i had a x1950 but not with my conroe - i didnt like it at all.

Nothing like the x800xt pe i had!
 
£170 and lower for an 8800GTS ... u have to give it some serious consideration.

The performances speak for themselves.
 
Bloody was :D i had the x800VIVO so it wasnt even supose to be a XTPE :D

I've been thru 3 cards since Jan this year trying to get one that works as well as that did.

Now i've found it :D
 
Well as soon as I can get rid of my X1950XT I'll probably buy one of these, btw is there a For Sale section of these forums ? Coulda a kind individual point me towards it ? Cheers :worship:
 
I love my GTS, and the 320mb doesnt beat it at low resolution its the same exact card.... My GTS does 660/2100 with a 12k 06 :D
 
remember guys the cheapest card is not always the worst of the bunch, some of the worst cards are the highest priced... the thing you have to stay away from is brand power, choose the card you like, the price you like and stuff the brands, because at the end of the day they arent made by gremlins... they are all made to a high standard... they have to be because nvidia put their name on!

8800 gts? yes i know the sort, very impressive, the first post said it was £170 is that the 320m or 640... there is a 640 up for grabs at £200.00 with 2 yrs warantee and service in the UK is that the same company you got it from?
