8800GTS 640MB Getting An Upgrade?

Hopefully the existing 8800GTS 640MB owners will be able to unlock those extra pipelines without too much hassle, otherwise they will be extremely cheesed off

So is it going to go 8800gts 320mb, 8800gt then 8800gts 640mb in terms of specs or is the 8800gt going to be the better as its the new G92

What does this mean? If you already own the 8800GTS 640mb graphics card, you will be aware it has 96 stream processors, the 8800GTX has 128, 32 more giving the GTX around a 20-30fps boost.

New 8800GTS 640mb cards will be made on a revised SKU - 0008, which has 112 stream processors, 16 more which is likely to result in a 10-15fps boost over existing 8800GTS 640mb models.

It would seem the 8800GTS 320mb will become EOL (End Of Line) replaced by the improved 8800GT and new 8800GTS 640mb performance will lie exactly between current 8800GTS 640mb and 8800GTX cards.

aha cheers i understand it now, i wasnt exactly at full mental performance when i read ur thread before mr smith.

8800gt 320mb replaced by 8800gt with the 8800gts 640mb (new) leading but in between the old 640mb and the gtx :)

lol you did the same to my GSKILL news last week. Oh well at least peeps are still getting their dose of news, even if it's a double-dose :)

Technically the GSKILL douple posting is my fault... I posted a few links in the news section while you were away, I had it in my head it was Geil...

I think this whole fiasco is due to them not wanting to rush the naming of the probossible G10000 range cards - thinking that the name is too long and to come up with something else. G10k, G18k ?>?!?""11../one//nopk!

I`m pretty sure, all things being equal, that these cards coming out would previously been in the next generation.
