8600GTS available to buy $214.14

Will these be much better than my current Sapphire X1900XTX as any excuse to get back over to NVidia and I will take it as ATI drivers suck !

eWiz powns when it comes to getting stuff first, they've only screwed me once on a new release (Kemp's 8800GTX).

That card looks to have the best passive cooler I've ever seen! :o

Shipping to the UK is another $77

That`s pretty decent imo, combining prices brings it to $292.

All depends if a UK source does one sub £150.

Only a small saving step to get up to £190 mind u for a 8800.

Meh, Uk prices have to hit £110-120 or they`re having a laugh. £140-£150 b4 shipping, I`d probably buy the US one on principle.

Heres what i think.

If your gonna buy an 8800GTS/X, go for it. High end stuff is good to buy.

But i would hold off on the 8600's, they arn't much better than the current lets say 7900gt, but do have DX10 support. So if they cant handle current games that well, how will they do on the DX10 games?

Basically what im saying is go big or go home.

If i have this completely wrong, don't embaress me too hard :P

Thing we have to appreciate here is that the cards are staggered in terms of their target purchasers.

We should know by now that x000 -> x500 are going basic cards in the range of the processors, wouldn`t mock em too much, they can make good multimedia cards. x500->x700 are the mid ranges, with some multimedia including inputs aswell as outputs - handle alot of games ~well~. x800+ are the top ends, great for spanking games and varieties do the below stuff too.

nVidia have been like this for a while.

If u`r some1 who buys a x800/x900 card "usually", like a 7900, if u buy a 8600 range u can only really look at it as a stop gap - u should be looking 8800 and above. Then again, if u struggled to purchase the 7900 - u should repeat the struggle to afford the 8800/8900 or u`ll be doing the same stop gap thing.

I like the x600 cards, I don`t play css at max frames etc and I appreciate some multimedia i/o. Some of them clock well too.

I told my self i would not settle for less than the 8800, am i am trying so hard to keep it that way. but this card is making it so dang hard!
