800w ~ 1000w PSU recommendations

Hey guys,

Do you know and can perhaps recommend a well built, solid, one that you truly trust in (ie spend all your own money on and that will power your own system) all black (preferrbly without a massive white spec sticker on the top) PSU.

That fully modular, 0rpm fan mode, is Platinum to Titanium effiency and around 800-1000W?...

Thanks,
Chrazey

Corsair RM1000i

In fan-off mode it's just silent, still using it now, still super happy. The Side Sticker would be easy to remove as well. then install it fan-side-up for smexy results.

Job done

It's not plat or titanium efficiency but a few % points aren't going to make that big of a difference tbh. it's all much of a muchness.

Enermax or Superflower (and thus EVGA) IMO.

Stickers - heat gun and then Isoprop.

Nice PSU but crap cable layout. Braiding them is close to impossible so you have to use extensions (not necessarily bad but yeah, not ideal). That's the only black mark for me but it is a big one.

p.s. I've changed your thread title to make it less generic...

Is the RMi Gold then?... And is there though like CableMod cables for that PSU?...

And maybe a dumb one, but by removing the sticker of a PSU, won't that remove the warranty of the PSU though?

And thanks SuB, yeah better titled by far. Should've given more thought to it than I did, my apologies.

True, but the person asking now asks for a fully black, powder coated black, sort of PSU.

Is there none of which that has no sticker on it though?...

Of course there isn't dude they have to brand it somewhere.

As I said, heat gun and Isoprop.

Imho, the rm1000i by corsair is the way to go. I am very pleased with mine. Here is a link to a review by Anatech http://www.anandtech.com/show/9625/the-corsair-rmx-and-rmi-1000w-power-supply-review/5

Okay, so another question I got, which I'm not sure on my own knowledge to answer...

Will a 1000W unit be better than a 800W in terms of silence, ie not having the fan spin up due to the higher wattage unit?.
The person mentioneds some reviewers saying this in some video. Even I can myself remember Linus have said it before, but as I said as well, I am not too sure on myself to answer this. Hence asking you guys.

Get a superflower LEADEX psu and you won't regret it mate!

What system specs are we talking about?

Okay fine, it's myself I'm thinking about... Maybe it's dumb for me thinking it, but wanted to atleast explore the option a bit and see.

So these:

i7 6900K
ASUS X99 Strix
64GB Corsair Vengeance LED 3000MHz
ASUS 1080 Strix OC version
Samsung 950 Pro 512GB M.2 SSD

Currently housing an Corsair HX750i...

Even with two 1080s in there you should be fine with a quality 850watt PSU, I don't see how you could possibly add a bigger load on the system..

I don't have 850W, I have 750W.... I meant more as in if I have a bigger wattage PSU, like 1000W, maybe the fan won't have to turn on at all, even during load and therefore stay silent.

In theory yes, I still recommend the LEADEX lineup. I think it is cheaper than the corsairs anyway... Unless you want to monitor your psu with software I would still go with superflower, build quality is top notch

Okay and to be picky (I know SuB will pick on this :p), do you have a specific model in mind that you recommend or so? :)

At 1000W you can only get power supplies from the LEADEX series... Now you have to choose efficiency, you have the money you get the plat, if not you get a gold one
