7800gt blurry image

hi.

got an annoying problem with 3 games.

gta san andreas, goes smooth and fine when driving but as soon a si walk around the image gets blurry when i move the mouse but as soon as i stop the image gets clear.

the same problem happens with farcry and sniper elite making it hard to se enemies in time.

its not a framerate issue as it happens even when fps goes over 100.

in sniper elite its steadily at 72-75.

tried sniper elite with resolution at 1280x1024 and all graphics to maximum still blurry.

tried 1024x768 and graphics to minumum but the blurrieness is still there.

never had this problem with gf4mx 460 and ati 9800pro when playing farcry for example.

using 81.98 drivers.

any ideas ?

btw is there any way to change colours in here ?

the black text on dark blue is almost impossible for me to read.

Regards

Raven

yup but even with vsync off it doesnt give this kind of problem, only gives lines on the screen when a new image is being written.

yup.

i get the same blurriness when i move a window in windows too.

its like the screen doesnt get updated as quick as it should under certain circumstances but yet fraps indicates no issues with fps.

i get it both on a viewsonic vx924 lcd got 3ms response time and on an old ibm powerdisplay 17" crt.

This is very odd, could it be old driver conflicts? ATI drivers being most unfriendly. Are you using the standard Leadtek 7800GT or the Extreme edition? Also is it overclocked atall?

made a fresh install of windows just to avoid conflicts with old drivers but i do think i used the cd from winfast first and then went to nvidia.

uninstalled both motherboard and graphics drivers.

rebooted into safemode used drivercleaner to wipe out all references to nvidia.

reinstalled motherboard drivers rebooted and then installed graphics drivers rebooted and then spent 2 hour fixing my tv-card as the software F***** completly, sound disappeared and then the channel frequencies started to act up.

started sniper elite and the blurriness is still there.

fraps reportet 72fps

graphics card is NOT overclocked.

got the same blurriness even when i played doom2 with zdoom.

even made screenshots with fraps in sniperelite but the images was clear

If you make a screenshot and the blurriness dissapears in screenie, it's the monitor. Your refresh rate is probabally 60Hz ingame. Force a higher one in the nV Drivers. :)

My monitor get's kinda blurry at the edges at 60Hz... for an example. :)

Oh, hey Raven. Didn't realize it was you. How's it goin?

Are you running at native res/refresh of your LCD? As far as I know most LCD's default refresh rate is 60hz.

1280x1024 75hz is maxium the lcd is made to handle.

hows it goin, not good.

have a hard time playing sniper elite due to the bluriness.

will fool around alittle later with my crt and play the game at 1024x768 100hz but i doubt it would help.

75hz is pretty high and never had this bluriness when playing games at 60hz

I think I know what your problem is and I think that means there's nothing wrong with your videocard/computer. Everything appears blurry when running a high resolution over a D-SUB connection. If you have a DVI output on your videocard and DVI input on your LCD then your blurriness should disappear when you link the two together. Is everything blurry at 800x600?

not using d-sub as both graphics card and lcd monitor got dvi.

one of my main requirments for the lcd was dvi.

tried sniper elite 1024x768 100hz on my crt dvi-vga adapter had to be used and still blurry.

fraps showed 80+ frames.

i can walk run crawl forward backwars and to the side and the image is just fine and what i expect from the game and hardware but asoon as i move the mouse,

i also tried the lcd at 800x600 but didnt help.

its a longshot but will disconnect the mouse(logitech 510) and se if it improves.

to get the keyboard to work i have to have setpoint 2.3 installed.

setpoint also installed the wireless mouse but dont use it for several reasons.

is there any chance there can be a conflict between the mx510 and the cordless ?

is a logitech ultrax media mouse.

it has no batteries in it but...

Umm...run it at 60 then?

was a bit unclear but what i meant was i never had this problem on my previous 9800pro when running games at 60hz so i doubt the problem is due to slow updatefrequency

The refresh rate isn't your problem. If you can move the images around without distortion using the keyboard then based on what you've said I think you'll see this problem disappear with a different mouse. Try connecting a wired keyboard and wired mouse into their appropriate PS2 ports. I figure that will fix your problem and then from there you'll have to find a mouse/keyboard combination that doesn't cause distortion.

possible but find it abit weird the mouse should conflict now when it never has done it before :(

but on the other hand i did change motherboard at the same time as i changed graphics card and msi have had serious trouble with the usb part on previous motherboards.

but i have both ps2 mouse and ps2 keyboard so i will take a look at it after i have disconnected the mx510 and tried with the wireless and the other way around, no wireless keyboard but the mx510 and ps2 keyboard.

will also move the usb receiver from case-usb to those on the back of the motherboard incase.
