71.84 nVidia's

I installed these, and as all of you must know, the temperature reading is higher. No, this is not wrong. Your card is actually running @ the higher temperature. Why? Because in this driver revision, nVidia fucked something up in the code, so the driver's don't switch your card back and forth from 2D to 3D Mode, the card is locked in 3D Mode, which in turn, makes it run warmer and use more power. So, I highly advise people running 71.84's to go back to 66.93's. You can download them here.

66.93 WHQL For Windows 2000/XP

If the download link does not work right away, that's because I'm still uploading the file to my server.

See you all around! :wavey:

I thought it was just because the tempurature was read wrong, not because it was locked in 3D Mode, may be wrong though.

I definatly wouldn't advise going back to the 66.93s though if the 71.84s give better performance

Why not grab the 71.90's?

I'm using them now, and my temps seem to be pretty much normal (45oC)

That's an even better idea :)

But what I wouldn't ever do is downgrade to drivers of lesser performance, even if the temps seemed a little high :D
