hi guys and galls, fair while since i last posted. like i have said in previous posts it had taken me an absolute age to save for the parts for my new system, my problem is this, i have the asus 6950 direct cu11 2 gig graphics card which takes up 3 slots cards good but where the card uses the 3 slot bracket to atatch to my case the pcb is connected to one side of the bracket and you have the heavy weight of the cooler on the side of the card there is no more strengthening on the card ,so in my antec 1200 tower the weight of the card is actually bending and twisting the pcb and also pulling the pci express socket . i am just a bit worried, i have had this system built for only just about a month i just dont want the pcb cracking over time and wasting my money. i cant send it back because it has now been used and its not broke, any ideas chaps and chapesses?????.

also is there an easy way of posting pics for idiots like me ?.i have tried to upload pics but to no avail, as i have some nice pics of my rebuild and painting of my antec 1200. any help would be greatly appreciated

best regards to all darren

Have a quick look at this vid:-

He's using a Direct CU in the vid, but if you look carefully he's running a wire or string line of some type tied to the top of the case to stop the card from sagging. Can you rig up something like this to support the weight?

thanks guys,

kilobravo, i might be a bit thick here, what do you mean upload at frontpage?.

sheroo, thanks for the vid, its a bit sad when you have got a major manufacturer like asus who produce a nice graphics card like this and do not think about all the weight from the cooler and fans twisting the millimeter thick pcp. then hold it up with a bit of cable or cable ties, how untidy does it look. just a bit of thought from asus would not have gone a miss. i have also read on hear that over time the high temps from the card and cooling down can actually crack the solder on the pcb, exactly what happened to the xbox 360!!!!.when you are spending £240 for a graphics card it should be right, i am just a wee bit annoyed about this.

best regards darren
