6800 Waterblock on 7800?

Hey! A quick question about the waterblocks.... would the Danger Den 6800 block fit the 7800? Obviously the 7800 blocks would be better, but I found a cheap block on offer.

I had one for a while but never tried lol I'm so lazy. I'd say it looks as though they would fit but you might have to do that mod where you dig out a little space from the block to accomodate a surface resistor/capacitor. I think there was a guide somewhere but it might have been for the innovatek block.

As long as the mounting pins match up, I can handle a little digging

Yes it fits, but there are no mounting points around the core (only the ram) on the 6800 block meaning that there is potential for poor contact - DD themselves even state this is a problem they solved with the 7800 blocks.

Better with the maze low profile.

Hmmm.... if the springs were tightened and tension increased, would that pull the block closer to the core?

Maybe - but why take ther risk, there are other better suited blocks out there.

Yea, I guess. i`m going for the cheapskate option again. I know its a matter of time before the cheap option goes pear-shaped and turns into expensive replacements....
