5850 Problem..

Hey! I built my new i7 rig some weeks ago, and so far everything has worked like a charm. But, today my 5850 started acting weird.

When playing BC2 it got horrible frame rates, went from a stable 50-70 fps to 30 and lagging. I tried mw2 just to see if it was just BC2, before mw2 ran at 100-200fps with no lag whatsoever but it now runs at 90fps and lags quite alot.

Before this happened the card was avg 57-58C at full load, max 61C, now it won't go higher than 48C under full load.

Also, in CCC, the "Current Values" won't go higher than 400/900 gpu and memory clock.. Before it raised to 725/1000 when gaming, like it should.

CCC:

(CCC: Right after gaming, just closed the game)

Real Temp:

EDIT, MSI Afterburner can't get it over the 400/900 either. I can apply 725/1000, but it doesn't go over 400/900.

So, the problem seems to be that it's clocks won't rise, which obviously will cause less temp and performance. Anyone else had this problem?

Thanks..

on the CCC panel dude, keep that open and download MSI kombustor, run that and if the clocks dont ramp up to the max running speed it may be time to RMA the card.

Already have kombustor, I ran it for 10mins before, still 400/900. Ran it again now, and same result. My gpu won't go over 45C either, even though load is 98-100%.

This is just weird.

(I have 2 monitors, so I always have CCC, real temp, hwmonitor and more open on the second screen)

For the sake of arguments uninstall CCC.

The run driver cleaner.

Reinstall LATEST drivers.

If it still does it and the GPU is under waranty RMA it as the only option after that is flashing the bios and that will void any waranty it may have.

Will do. Already have uninstalled and installed latest CCC, but that's a couple of days ago, so haven't done it after it started doing this.

Make sure you use driver cleaner afetr uninstalling the CCC pack. Also down load the drivers again from scratch
